This is just insane for a 3 hour long movie. The only way this is possible even with the added theater count is if the morning and afternoon showtimes are selling out as well. And around my area at least, they certainly are.

Since it's a forgone conclusion that Endgame will make around 350 million this weekend domestically. Let me ask how much you think the second weekend haul will be.
That record is currently held by The Force Awakens with 149.2 million. Is a 200 million plus second weekend for Endgame out of the question? Or did it overload too much opening weekend to do that?

Is a 200 million plus second weekend for Endgame out of the question? Or did it overload too much opening weekend to do that? It would have to be. It'd need to drop less than 42% in it second weekend. These kind of movies don't really drop that light. Even Wonder Woman dropped 43% and that really held strong. Avengers dropped 50% from a record opening and that was considered real good at the time. Infinity War dropped 55% but yeah because it seems like more people have rushed out to see this one then it's more open to falling harder. A similar drop would give it the second weekend record though.

I think it's going to be smaller say 50% max, but I'm leaning more to high 40's. Like 48%. I think it will get bigger repeat viewing than previous Avenger's Movies. Also I think there are the casuals that really want to see it, but are going to skip opening weekend and take a shot at 2nd Weekend. Again I have no evidence for this, just a feeling.

After seeing how insanely packed my theater was yesterday, I can almost believe these numbers. I don’t think any movie is going to be breaking this movie’s record for at least a decade.

Holy shit. Of course there could also be a Deathly Hallows P2 like drop-off after an enormous 1st week, but if not then this would could beat Avatar and then some.

So what could even beat this opening? Forget worldwide, even just the domestic opening. What could conceivably even top this?
Since 1975 no movie has held the opening weekend record for more than 4 years. I bet this movie could have that beat easily though.

I can’t imagine how any movie within the next decade is supposed to top this.

Maybe Avengers 8 in 10 years with Strange/T'Challa/Danvers/Parker being the main 4... but no, Endgame's eventfulness will probably never be replicated.
