That's impossible. No light can escape a black hole. Taking a picture of it would be like trying to enter the "other world" that you see in a mirror.

I saw the headline on the bottom of a web page and thought it was fake news.

If it's surrounded by an accretion disk, it would shine. The matter near the event horizon would be very bright and high in energy.

If I remember correctly, it won't be just any black hole, it'll be Sagittarius A.
That's the supermassive black hole at the centre of the Milky Way Galaxy and also the source of very strong radio signals.
It certainly sounds like a very interesting scientific development.

Why would it be impossible? It would just appear on the photo as, well, a black hole.

whatever light the camera captures would not be from the black hole itself but instead from the warped absence of light surrounding the black hole. No one can ever witness a black hole directly. It's a physical impossibility, for probably the same reason no one could ever look directly into the Eye of Sauron.

well apparently we're getting one says scientist so strap onto your boots there incel what's Intel? Not intel... Incel. Incels are members of an online subculture who define themselves as unable to find a romantic or sexual partner despite desiring one, a state they describe as inceldom. Self-identified incels are largely white and are almost exclusively male heterosexuals. The term is a portmanteau of "involuntary celibates".

You are splitting hairs. The area on the photo with the absence of light IS the black hole.

I suppose if someone involuntarily goes without a sexual partner, that would not be considered a good thing. I think it's meant to be an insult.
