Dad's Army would get my vote. Love that show. AbFab was absolute shite. Not a fan of Only Fools and Horses either. Just downloaded 20 episodes from audible. Every year they give me a free trial and I'm building up a good library without spending any money. You keep them forever and can listen quickly and get another or return if not good and get something else. Got 70 hours of Stephen Fry reading the entire Sherlock Holmes canon for free last ti e, only finished it last week, got the two Partridge books read by Coogan the same way.

"Legs are the unsung heros of walking and yet so little is known about them". Really made me laugh.

Detectorists is one of the sweetest things I've seen on TV. It had all the hallmarks of being too twee but everyone in it and the writers took it to a different level. It's great TV. I love your subtle use of the English language Oggy. "too twee" Pity you couldn't work four and five in there somehow. (twore, twive? Doesn't quite work) Of course I didn't mean that but lets pretend I did.

Would have included Red Dwarf, Allo Allo and Black Books. Some of the ones listed I never bothered with or don't really like, but then comedy is so subjective I guess.

Where is the greatest British sitcom Till Death Us Do Part?
And the most hilarious, The Goodies?

The Goodies has not worn well. I dunno why I ever thought it was funny.

I liked In The Thick Of It. Funnily enough Julia Gillard did have a foul mouthed Scotsman playing pretty much the same role in her government that Malcolm Tucker did in that show.
With.a lot of others in thinking Red Dwarf and Yes Minister are rather glaring omissions. And I second Black Books and the IT Crowd.

A fair few of my favourites are on the list but of course there were always going to be glaring omissions. Very good to see some of the classics such as Dad's Army and Porridge. Only Fools will always have a place in my heart. Glad there's a Partridge presence on the list. Peep Show and The Thick of It too, nice one.
What sort of smeghead left out Red Dwarf?? Also miffed not to see Black Books, The IT Crowd (sorry, LaFong!), Spaced and Still Game on the list. I guess Dinnerladies made it because Victoria Wood is held in such high esteem but, although I did watch the show, it was really nowt special in my opinion - still, at least Miranda isn't stinking the list up!
Here's an obscure one for you all, does anyone recall My Life in Film? That had a great little set-up. Deserved another series but it just disappeared. In recent years I've had a soft spot for the Reeves and Mortimer vehicle House of Fools, as it was great for daft, unpretentious laughs. I would swap The Young Ones for Bottom, personally.
League of Gentlemen and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace for the slightly macabre comedy.

So out of those 20 shows, 18 were BBC productions...hmm. Even from their own fairly sh*tty back catalog they could've picked better than some of the shite in that list...or maybe those shows are due for re-runs and it's a put-up job for ratings. I wouldn't put anything past the BBC.

The not so known Time Trumpet was hilarious. Very topical for its time though, even more so than The Day Today and Brass Eye, so might not date as well.
I forgot Mid Morning Matters with Alan Partridge. That's the best thing with him in it since the first series of I'm Alan Partridge.
