Because if his name is Shazam! it won't work. He can never introduce himself because if he says "I'm Shazam!" he will instantly turn back into Billy Batson. Of course Captain Sparkle Fingers and Thunder Crack don't work either. So what is his super hero name?

In the New 52 comics, it was established that he had to say the name with the specific intent of transforming in order for it to work. Since that doesn’t apply to the movie version, he just has to settle for not having a real name.

Nice try Fawcett Comics originally published Captain Marvel, not DC. DC sued, claiming the character was too similar to Superman, and Fawcett stopped publication in 1953, and sold the rights to DC in 1972. But in the intervening period Marvel had started their own "Captain Marvel" character and got the trademark for it.

Well, Shazam was the original Captain Marvel, but Marvel stole the name. Nice try Fawcett Comics originally published Captain Marvel, not DC. I never said DC originally published Captain Marvel. I said Shazam was the original Captain Marvel. Are you disputing that fact? Fawcett stopped publication in 1953, and sold the rights to DC in 1972. But in the intervening period Marvel had started their own "Captain Marvel" character That's what I said. Marvel stole the Captain Marvel name from another company.

Marvel legally bought the copyright to the name. Interesting hypocrisy here 1) you of all people accusing Marvel of thievery/copyright theft and 2) your beloved DC managed to get a Comics publisher closed down because they claimed their character was similar to a DC character...then years later buy the rights to publish that very same character

When DC bought the rights to the Captain Marvel character, Fawcett Comics willingly signed the contract and received compensation in return for the character. But Fawcett Comics never received any compensation when Marvel stole the Captain Marvel character name from them. I'll explain it to you more slowly. If I own a car and I decide to sell it to someone, they pay me for it and the car is theirs. If I own a car and someone takes my car without me agreeing to sell or give it to them and they don't pay me anything for it, then they've stolen my car. It doesn't matter if I haven't driven that car for years. It was my car and they took it from me without me agreeing to it and without paying me anything for it. That's stealing.

When DC bought the rights to the Captain Marvel character, Fawcett Comics willingly signed the contract and received compensation in return for the character. But Fawcett Comics never received any compensation when Marvel stole the Captain Marvel character name from them. You are truly dumb. Marvel legally purchased the trademark "Captain Marvel" because another publisher tried to cash in on Marvel's success by creating a a Captain Marvel of their own. The trademark was available to be purchased so they did. Think about it....if Marvel HAD NOT legally gained the trademark why are DC not allowed to call their comic ""Captain Marvel"? Why does Marvel have to publish a Captain Marvel comic at least once every 2 years? Why were DC legally forced to stop calling their comic Shazam: The Original Captain Marvel? None of this would be possible if Marvel had not legally obtained the trademark name.
And let's talk about DC shall we. Fawcett's Captain Marvel outsells Superman. DC sue Fawcett for ripping off Superman. DC lose because they hadn't properly copyrighted Superman themselves. DC appeal. Fawcett lose because some storylines were similar to some Superman storylines. The case bankrupts Fawcett resulting in the loss of many jobs. Superman sales drop in the 70s. DC decide to introduce new blood by buying the rights to a character, but not name, that they once considered too similar to one of their own. They do this nearly 20 years after they bankrupt Fawcett and 7 years after Marvel trademarked "Captain Marvel". And Marvel are the dicks here? Seriously? You have tried to come across in the past as being informed on history..and failed. Technology...and failed. Maths..failed. Word definition...failed. And now copyright law. Guess what the result is. Fail. What is the point of your shitty analogies if the point you are making is wrong. Give up on them. They never clarify anything.

Yes, like said in my previous post (and which you still fail to understand), Fawcett willingly agreed to sell the rights for the character to DC AND Fawcett Comics received compensation (agreed upon by both Fawcett Comics and DC) for the rights to the character. By contrast, Fawcett Comics never received any compensation from Marvel when Marvel stole the Captain Marvel name from them.

How do you know they were entitled to receive anything? Either way, the name was obtained/trademarked legally. FACT. You complain about lack of compensation Marvel paid to Fawcett, without knowing for sure whether they had received or were entitled to any payment. What you do ignore and we know for a fact....DC bankrupt Fawcett and prevented them from publishing anymore Captain Marvel comics. And you seemed not to have read this.....if Marvel HAD NOT legally gained the trademark why are DC not allowed to call their comic ""Captain Marvel"? Why does Marvel have to publish a Captain Marvel comic at least once every 2 years? Why were DC legally forced to stop calling their comic Shazam: The Original Captain Marvel? All you show is your ignorance of the subject and understanding of the circumstances.
