Is that really true? If so a lot of that is on us to be more active in praising the films. Lucas is like a Renaissance artist. I hated seeing him getting crucified by armchair critic scum.

I think the majority of them hate all the 'Star Wars' movies apart from 'The Empire Strikes Back.' That is the only movie out of the entire franchise they praise and when they are not putting down the new movies they put down the prequels along with 'A New Hope' and 'Return of the Jedi' to praise 'The Empire Strikes Back' up. I am not even sure how they can call themselves 'Star Wars fans' since they clearly only like one movie.

I don't think much of the first two episodes but I really like Revenge of the Sith.

20 years on, The Phantom Menace is still a pretty bad movie. I'm less harsh on Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith as they still provide a decent sense of adventure and fun despite missteps in writing and acting.

The second half in particular of Attack of the Clones is one terrific action movie, and while Sith isn't perfect, in my eyes it's every bit as good as Return of the Jedi.

Despite Anakin's serious lack of critical thinking skills, the latter half of Revenge of the Sith is still pretty epic. Especially like the confrontation between Obi-Wan and Anakin before measuring swords.

Almost every SW movie aside Empire is unsatisfying to anybody. You got those that don’t like ROTJ for its campiness after the grounded and dark ESB. You got those that hate the prequels. You get those that hate the sequel trilogy from Disney. And now you even have those that say A New Hope hasn’t aged well. If all of this does apply to certain fans (which I’m not saying it is, but I’m wondering if there are), for the love of god you fanboys, make up your own mind!!!

I'm not really a Star wars fan, but I liked revenge of the Sith and return of the Jedi a lot more than empire.

I grew up with Star Wars. Was a fan as a kid. Liked the original trilogy to varying degrees when older. But the prequels I hated. Not because they are bad Star Wars films (I do not subscribe to that awful "boo hoo they raped my childhood" view), but because they are just shit films. Sith has a few (unintentional) giggles.

My view on Star Wars is this
The original trilogy is not as great as many people claim. The prequel trilogy is not as bad as many people claim.
The force awakens was not to bad. The Last Jedi was pretty bad.
Rouge One was good
But the movies of the original trilogy are the best.

The majority certainly does NOT love the prequels. There are many people who moderately like the prequels (including me), but very few who love them.

Uh oh, do I sense some historical revisionism in the air?
The prequels have always been bad. Badly written, abandonment of most practical effects which worked so well in the originals and instead utilized heavy crappy CGI (end battle of Phantom Menace is a prime example), and horribly acted with the exception of a few people (namely Ewan McGregor).
The best Star Wars film in the past 30 years was Rogue One. The prequels have always been horrible outside of a few good sequences. I grew up a fan of the original 3 films. I still like them in their unaltered form. ROTJ was a good film even with the Ewoks, but the Special Edition of it was the worst of the original 3 (especially Jabba's palace).

The prequels aren't good, but they aren't the worst films ever made nor are they the worst prequels ever made. I think Star Trek Enterprise and Prometheus/Alien: Covenant are far worse in the prequel arena.
I feel bad for Jake Lloyd more than anyone else. He was a little kid having fun making a movie and he got bashed relentlessly by fannerds.

I remember saying to myself in the theatre just before The Force Awakens started, "I'm seeing a NEW Star Wars movie!" That old excitement was there again. The childlike wonder that only comes from very few cinematic experiences. I was thankful to feel that way again, and I really enjoyed the movie.
Nothing is perfect. I acknowledge imperfections in my favorite movies but keep on liking them anyway. Is it our sarcastic snark culture? Wanting to be the first to say or write the funniest review? People love a good mean jab these days, and people would rather read or hear that than a well thought out review. And by people, I mean the regular slobs who go to movies, not the film fans who post here, I know we all love a good film broken down, thoughts and opinions shared.

TPM B- AOTC B+ ROTS A-
I don't love them. Colour me toxic? lols TPM is better than The Godfather Part III. I treat them nowadays as hybrid animated films, which is kinda what they were all along.
