“Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.” ISAIAH 45:22-23
So every knee will bow and every tongue swear allegiance to God. Now bare that in mind and then go read Philippians 2:10-11.
Jesus is God.

Don't you think Paul was just quoting Isaiah? He somehow became convinced Jesus was God, so, of course he would find places in the OT where someone talked about how people responded or should respond to God, and applied it to Jesus. AFAIK, Paul never met Jesus in person, and he never said much about Jesus' actual life on earth other than to promote the idea that his death and what Paul believed to have been his resurrection. Did Paul believe that Christ's resurrection foretold of the resurrection of all who are in Christ Jesus (ie Christians) or will ALL people be resurrected?

"Jesus is God."
Is he? I guess you could argue that, I always just though of Jesus as being a "flesh puppet" of sorts for God.+

So every knee will bow and every tongue swear allegiance to God. I cannot say that this will not happen. I can say that if it does, it will be something forced upon me against my will. As such, it seems like it's really not something for god to be bragging about.

If the queen visited your home, would you bow? No. I didn't when I met her grandson, either. But the cases are not in any way comparable. The queen is part of a social contract which I accept, in which she has certain powers and privileges in return for performing certain duties; if I were to bow to her, it would be in recognition of that social contract. Her Majesty is also a person I have some respect for. The god depicted in the bible, if he exists, is not part of such an arrangement with me, nor is he somebody I have any respect for.

So you respect the queen, who pretty much does nothing most senior citizens couldn’t do, over the creator and sustainer of the universe and life? You highlight yet again why you are one of the most arrogant and deranged individuals on this board.

The Queen has moral authority and duties, you see, which she carries out well. I respect that. Whereas your god is, as one person put it, 'jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.' Thanks. A poor opinion from a person like yourself is high praise indeed.

It used to be a belief that monarchs were chosen by God, what they decided had the full authority of God behind them. 😇

Do you fry or bake your Colcannon cakes? Lightly fry, almost 'dry' fry. Thanks, I am going to give them a shot. We eat vegetarian a couple of nights a week. Edit: I am going to use this recipe for a bit more of a vegetarian rather than vegan experience with more fat and protein. umamigirl.com/colcannon-cheddar-skillet-cakes/

Thanks. A poor opinion from a person like yourself is high praise indeed. Not only that. I wonder who is more arrogant: Person A, who does not believe in a deity for whose existence there is no good evidence; or Person B, who believes that an extremely powerful deity, which is creator and sustainer of life and everything in the Universe, cares about Person B. My vote goes to Person B.
