Not specifically because of the actress/comedian, but I always thought that the character would have been a great addition to the show.
For those who may not remember, she played a character in the two-part time-travel episode in which Voyager ends up in Los Angeles in the present. She plays an astronomer who detects Voyager in orbit. Tom Paris and Tuvok go to her workplace to investigate, and then when the bad guys show up they escape together. She and Tom Paris clearly “click”, but at the end of the episode of course Voyager goes back to the future and she stays in the present.
I always thought that this was a missed opportunity for Star Trek. They could have brought her along (she could have been injured and Tom could have brought her on board to save her, against the Captain’s orders) and made her into a recurring character. This is something that Star Trek has never done, and I think it would have created a lot of interesting possibilities.

She is a bit annoying (to put it mildly) so I understand if that is the case, but I still think that having a character from our present as part of the crew in a Star Trek show would have been interesting.
