Only just found out, Someone who actually does deserve the hugely overused sobriquet "legend". A victim in later life of having too many injections to cover up pain to play whilst damaging the body. At least that problem has left the game now with the worth of players ensuring they are treated well. A f#@king warrior.

Wouldn't be at all surprised.

These days the float about all over the place like beachballs.

It's a difficult one isn't it, back in Tommy Smith's days there is no doubt that UK culture allowed racism and made it a joke worthy of bad sit coms and everyday language. Footballers came from an extremely working class background (far more than today) and anything that made you stand out from the group like reading a posh paper (Graham le Saux), having a different colour skin etc lead to victimisation at worse and ostracization at best. Football especially was just an extension of the school playground with bullying and practical jokes intact. Doesn't mean they were right to act like that, but they were a product of their times, their upbringing and their environment. Football has moved on to a huge degree in this country though, I had a season ticket all through the 1970's and it has largely been eradicated over here due to the huge influx of multi ethnicity in the British game. You see far worse behaviour in just about every other European country and it is something we should largely be proud of. Are we perfect? or course not, there is always room for improvement, especially at lower levels where it is less important to make everyone feel welcome. Finally, I always prefer people to make accusations when the person is still alive to answer back.

I had a season ticket all through the 1070's I'd have thought it would've been rather hard to watch much football at that time, what with the distraction of the various revolts and insurrections against King William the Conqueror?
