It also had Jennifer Jason Leigh in it. I thought it was good. Not great, but good.

An interesting story that got a bit choppy at times. Should've been done better. I gave it a 7/10.

Weird movie, but not bad. I love the idea behind it all, but the ending is a bit nonsensical.
The book it's based on is a trilogy so there could be sequels.

Or did you also realize the Gina Rodriguez character was going to be trouble as soon as she couldn't watch the video of the husband cutting that guy's stomach open? What was she doing on that mission if she can't handle blood and gore?

I have seen it twice so far and it improved in score for me on a re-watch. initial viewing was a 6/10 and on a re-watch(2nd viewing) went to a 6-6.5/10 which makes it within my Top 217 movies. but like DarkManX I also thought it was a bit weird on my initial viewing but the general mood etc of the movie kind of pushed me passed that, especially on a re-watch.
p.s. but the directors top movie is... Ex Machina (2015) (7-7.5/10). that movie also most recently improved on a re-watch which was my 3rd viewing as it was a 7/10 on my first two viewings but went up to it's current score on my 3rd viewing.

I hope Ex Machina has a sequel. I would love to find out what happens to the robot girl after she escapes her creater/inventor.

Glad you liked it. I regularly fuck the movie's star, Natalie Portman, when she comes to visit my Presidential Palace in CHAD to see me in my white dinner jacket and sometimes my stylish military beret. Those outfits really turn her on.

But my biggest complaint about the movie was the Gina Rodriguez character. The military soldiers were not coming back from going into the shimmer zone. So they send in 5 female scientists with military backgrounds. The Gina Rodriguez character could not only watch the video of the husband cutting open the other soldier's belly exposing slithering intestines. She slams the computer shut so nobody else can watch it. That is not very scientific of her. If I and my friends (male and female) can watch the video, why can't she? She is supposed to be ex military. I knew at that point she was going to be increasingly a bigger and bigger problem. No surprise. If I was one of the 5 women, I would have been looking for an excuse to take her out. She was predictably a mortal threat to the mission and the other women.

8/10
The ending is genius metaphor if you sit and think about what it means allegorically to Portmans character.

It was interesting enough. The visuals and creature effects stood out from the norm.

movielikerMaybe, but it might be difficult for them to make a quality movie though given the robot goes back into society. who knows, maybe they could make a decent movie but I don't see it having the same spark as the first one.

It is one of the most trippy, unique and fascinating sci-fi films I've seen in a long while. Yes the sum of all the parts isn't quite a masterpiece, but there's a lot of genius in the movie.

They aren't wanting to lab test everything. The fact that all of them were damaged goods in one way or another shows scientists are as human and frail as everyone else.

I guess she knocked them out while they were sleeping.
