I like all seasons. I guess the weakest would have to be season 4, because of the absence of Ross Martin. I agree with this statement. No one could truly replace Ross Martin, but I think they did a marvelous job carrying on without him. Charles Aidman was the unsung hero of Season 4. Furthermore, William Schallert was excellent as a guest agent.

Oh, I misspelled his name, sorry. Agreed, big difference between the two people. Still, you have no right to use the word 'conflate" on me.

Actually, as well documented in Sue Kessler's book, the first season was the one with all the behind the scenes turmoil. There were many producers who worked on the first season including: Michael Garrison (also the show's creator), Collier Young, Fred Freiberger, John Mantley, and Gene L. Coon. When Bruce Lansbury took over at the beginning of the second season, he was the ninth producer, and he stayed until the end of the series. Given all the turmoil, it's a wonder that the first season turned out as good as it did. Susan Kessler's book is a must have for any true WWW fan. 😀I was I was unaware of the Kessler book. I'll have to check it out. Thanx!

Looks like IMDb got rid of message boards a day early.

Looks like IMDb got rid of message boards a day early. Yup. I have now logged out of my IMDb account. I may never log back in again.

I was unaware of the Kessler book. I'll have to check it out. Thanx! Unfortunately Kessler's book is now rare and expensive. But it is still available if you're willing to pay for it. I bought mine here: Wild Wild West Reference Book.

I've been a big fan since the pilot episode. You're welcome. I bought mine back in 2001 when the price was more reasonable. Still it is an indispensable reference (250 pages!) to the series.

Still it is an indispensable reference (250 pages!) to the series. My favorite TV show at the time was The Man from U.N.C.L.E., which was a brilliant response to the Bond movies. Then came WWW, and I was in my unique little heaven.

What did you think of The Girl from Uncle? I never watched any of them. Were they any good?

I've only seen the show during its original run, in the fall of 1966. Stefanie Powers was the "girl from Uncle," and she had a partner, played by Noel Harrison, Rex's son. Mr. Waverly was in the show, too. The only episode I remember with any clarity is "The Mother Muffin Affair," featuring Boris Karloff as an old lady!

I'd also have remembered a Boris Karloff UNCLE episode.

My pick for Best Episode:
The Night of the Returning Dead (Season 2, Episode 5)
Sammy Davis Jr. guest stars in this eerie, atmospheric episode of a mysterious Confederate horseman that terrorizes a ranch.
I was a young lad when I first saw this, and the opening scene of the ghost rider attacking Jim West was horrifying to me. I had nightmares for days. And this was on TV in my living room!
Sammy's performance of a terrified stable hand was thoroughly convincing. He was truly a talented man. And I loved the twist at the end.

Sammy was doing shows at the time of this episode in Las Vegas. After his shows ended at like 2am, he would sleep on the way to the WWW set in an ambulance. After the days shootings, he would start the process all over again.
