Never knew the Yankees played Kate Smith's God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch. She's been a staple here in Philly with 'God Bless America' - even though deceased - they play a video package with her singing with Lauren Hart (daughter of legendary Flyer's broadcaster Gene Hart) pre important playoff games (save the jokes folks) - half century ago apparently she was a hit. Anywho - word came out she sang some racist songs about 'watermelons' and such when she was 24. Flyers just covered her statue up. Anybody else ever hear of Kate Smith? Only reason I did was because of the Flyers. Apparently she was a big deal. I thought maybe they should have put a bag over her head:  |

jesus - just reading about all of this after googling it - apparently she sang a song, 'That's Why Darkies Were Born' - apparently it's on Youtube - can't bring it up because it says 'Restricted'  |

i hate to pull out the gender card here - but why isn't this fat bigot getting tarred and feathered even in her grave? i mean - this is Marge Schott X1,000,000 are we so dismissive as a society towards an old fat white broad where we look the other way? was listening to sports talk radio here today in philly and it was appalling - even by a host Glen Macnow (been around for years and a Philly and Flyers staple) - being dismissed - "well - that's how it was in those days".......... i say we dig her corpse up and piss on it. who's with me? i mean if he was john rocker - she'd get villified  |

Bow down to the Social Justice Warriors.
They've come to destroy all that was good with the world, taking EVERYTHING you've ever done and passing judgement on it.
Music, movies, sports, television, you name it, and they ALL have gone downhill, as the judgements continue.
Told an offensive joke 17 years ago when you were 22 years old? They'll make you pay, from the comfort of their bedrooms and computer screens. They will make you pay.....
Once again, I thank God every day that I was able to experience life before social media ever existed.

"This was actually a satirical song at the time. It was part of a segment highlighting the absurdity of racism in George Whites Scandal's, which was a popular Broadway review at the time. GWS was known for being progressive and constantly making a mockery of white nationalists. Listening to it out of context, it obviously sounds ridiculously dated and racist, but it was actually ahead of it's time, fighting racism by showing how insane it is.
