What did Saif get it for? Omkara? Either way Akshay was undeserving of the award. Weird he gets it for Rustom and not Airlift. He wasn't good in it but it would've made more sense.

I haven't watched either but I will assert that it was a mediocre movie or at best average and Saif didn't deserve anything. Bhandarkar probably was able to unjustly get the award on reputation of his earlier work Chandni Bar.

I watched hum tum. Mediocre performance would be the right word. But the national award winners are decided by whole of the jury members and not by 1 particular member. Politics is everywhere right from cricket to film industry. Akshay was good in rustom but if they wanted to give akki a national award they should have given it for baby instead. Anyways akshay never got any filmfare and he is ignored in indian awards always. He just got 1 filmfare award for ajnabee for negative role. I dont watch regional films so i dont have any idea who should have won. For bollywood it must be manoj vajpayee this year coz i just watched aligarh a month ago. I could have said aamir khan but that film was 50 % dependent on female stars. Anyways i am happy akshay won, at last a national award winner has supporters and trollers, if any other actor would have won it other supporters of other actors would have trolled that actor. At last congrats akshay 26 years of hard work paid at last and with the national award. Srk would be crying today. Couldn't buy national awards.

FAHAD FAZIL(maheshinte prathikaram), NIVIN PAULY (action hero biju), VINAYAKAN (kamatti padam), DILEEP (pinneyum) and BIJU MENON (anuraga karikkin vellam) were all leagues ahead of him. there could have been many great performances in tamil cinema and other languages as well. apparently MANOJ BAJPAI was awesome in ALIGARH.

He has come miles ahead as an actor. I am very keen on all his 3 projects especially Toilet.

greatstreetwarrior the three film which national award winning actor is doing is better than any actor. Padman is about female period, toilet is about swachh bharat for making toilets in rural areas and robot 2 is a 350 cr film a sci fi for box office. Nobody is better than akshay while choosing films these days.

pimpinainteasy actually the name of the movie may sound bad. But this movies fate totally depends on the trailer and subject of the movie. Gulshan kumar's biopic doesn't excites me much but Gold directed by reema kagti would surely be interesting.

Complete lack of awards for Aligarh is extremely conspicuous... Manoj Bajpayee should have been the front-runner for Best Actor award.
Nihalani is trying to turn the NFA into Filmfare 2.0
