Alien Day is an unofficial holiday on April 26th for fans of the iconic space-horror franchise movie "Alien". Aliens, the 1986 sequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 cult film, is set on a colonial moon called Acheron. However, before it was given a proper name, the moon was known as LV-426. Because of this, Alien Day is taking place on the American date 4/26 - which we would write as 26/4 - April 26. The first official Alien Day was held in 2016, to celebrate the film's 30th anniversary. To commemorate the event, this week marks the 4K release of "Alien" and the encore performance of the famous high school version of "Alien: The Play" on April 26th. No release plans yet on the Alien sequels for 4K. Other upcoming releases are an extensive making of "Alien" book and a blueprint book on the space vehicles from Alien. Further "Alien" 2019 plans: Anniversary shorts: The last two shorts created as part of the Alien 40th anniversary short films project, Alien: Harvest and Alien: Alone, will be released through IGN. Audible audio drama: Audible will return with an as-yet untitled audio drama adaptation. Fox merchandise: Shop.FoxMovies.com will offer a wide selection of exclusive Alien merchandise and apparel, with those purchasing on Alien Day receiving a free pack of Aliens trading cards. Fanattik merchandise: Exclusive to the United Kingdom, Fanattik will release a range of Alien merchandise, including prints, playing cards, a 40th anniversary commemorative coin and pin badges. Video game discounts: Both Alien: Blackout and Aliens vs. Pinball will see substantial one-day-only discounts. Reebok releasing Alien sneakers based on Ripley's sneakers More product announcements: www.alienuniverse.com/post/alien-day-product-announcements

One of the best paced horror films. Continues to look remarkable 40 years later.

They really should give the "ALIEN" Franchise back over to James Cameron.
I am 100 Percent Convinced that he could bring it back to life.

Hah! He'll probably make it a prequel to a sequel for a reboot of Alien: Covenant. Which won't matter in the end because none of the previous movies talked about it!

I actually think that James Cameron would do what Neill Blomkamp was planning to do with his " ALIEN 5" Movie before it was canceled and that is to have it be a Direct Sequel to " ALIENS" and also completely ignore the events in both " ALIEN 3" and " ALIEN RESURRECTION" as if they never happened.

An incredible film. It holds up so well, beautifully directed by Ridley Scott. Incredible production. For all the benefits of CGI today, I have rarely seen an alien planet depicted so realistically. I usually don't buy books about films but I am tempted to pick up that forthcoming book. I have never seen a better performance by a cast than in Alien, even if it is a small cast. Sigourney Weaver deservedly won an Oscar nomination in Aliens, but I think this performance in Alien is even better. And Jerry Goldsmith's score, haunting and never overpowering. One of the true masterpieces in SF.
