Looking over a gate in to a field at night after taking 200 shrooms, and seeing row after row of severed heads like planted cabbages. Telling someone, and they say it's not real, you're tripping your tits off. Going back to check... The heads are still there, only now they're opening and closing their mouths in silent pleas for help. Still being troubled by the image 30 years later. Apparently 🤔 After hearing that story Ned, this is the only kind of mushroom that I will be ingesting!!! Edit: Do they have morels on your side of the pond? This year is my first encounter with them, and oh, my, they are tasty! And it's fun to walk in the woods to find them. Our season is just now over, but I am looking forward to next spring!

Yes, we have morels... One of the wild mushrooms I am brave enough to pick to cook with. I can ID a lot of fungi, but am not confident enough to eat many species. Too many poisonous varieties look like edible ones. I need to go on a proper fungus forage with an expert this autumn... They teach you how to correctly ID in the field.
