1- The RAFT sequence in "TEMPLE". 2- The infamous FRIDGE in "SKULL".
Any scientific explanation for those two?

There is no scientific info. They're movies, and I don't think Spielberg or anyone else wanted us to think about these kinds of stuff.

Even as a kid, I thought the raft thing was stupid.
Never seen part 4.

I GUESS:
1- The raft was "imbued" with Shiva's magic, since Shiva was calling Indy to himself... the prophecy.
2- Indy has a limited immortality tahnk to the Holy Graal, that's how he saved from the fridge.

Even as a kid, I thought the raft thing was stupid. Never seen part 4. I rewatched the 4th movie for the very first time on home video (blu-ray). Well, this time I liked it. And I think that the Fridge Sequence was 100% artistic and spectacular. I have no problems with the movie (anymore). It's pure Indiana Jones escapism. Even the "Monkey Scene" was actually funny and inventive, like coming out straight from an Eighties movie. I think the movie is great. Indy is great. I have NO problems to assume that there's still some supernatural energy left inside him and thus having him surviving impossible accidents like the Fridge Sequence.

You mean the raft falling from the plane and hitting the snow and sliding down? I don't think it was that big a fall. They say some people can fall from airplanes and land in haystacks and live so...

Plus the idea was that the raft provided a parachute type buffer for the fall as well.
