I bought an Oppo BDP-83 when they first came out for $500 which I thought was an insane amount of money for a bluray player, but it's been perfect ever since and I've enjoyed watching many movies on it (as well as a few DVD-Audio discs I have).
Worst thing I ever bought over $100 was a diamond pendant for my girlfriend (now wife). It was for her birthday but she left it in her car while at the gym in an exposed area of the car (might have been a cupholder) and someone busted out her passenger window and stole it. What a waste.

Qantas shares. Spent $14,000 on them a few years ago and today they’re worth five times that. Plus I’m getting dividends every quarter.

It was public for roughly 10 years then they bought back the shares. I still have the stock certificate but I had to send it so they acknowledged it was genuine and cancelled it by punching a few holes in it and I got it back.
Still on display in my room. It impress the friends but not so much the ladies though...

I’m still using the iPod Classic I bought six years ago. Aye. 6th gen for all my music & podcasting wants... without draining battery of anything else. I really just wanted it as external hard drive for all my music & some tv episodes. Over $100 good: I've worn a new Guess watch every 2-3yrs now, they run about $140 I guess. Bad: Nike running shoes that wore out after 4-5wks everyday use. Never again buying Nike shoes.

I Regret buying...-A expensive paintball gun. it's easily my worst purchase of a higher priced item mostly because I did not use it enough to justify the cost (but that was when I was younger (as in the early side of my early 20's) and you tend to be less wise with $ back in those days). I don't remember exactly what I paid but I am pretty sure it was more than $500, and probably closer to $1k. Great buys...-LG 43" 1080p TV I got in May 2016 (TV mfg date is Jan 2016) for only $222.xx. that was a rather huge upgrade over my previous TV which was one of those old style 25-27" TV's and at that price, no one could complain. -Upgrading my PC with a new motherboard/CPU(i3-2120)/RAM(8GB(2x 4GB)) back in May 2012 for only $229.xx. it's still my main PC to this day and is still solid enough for what I use it for which is general use and some gaming here and there. I plan on milking this for as long as I can before building a new PC as by the time I dump my current PC and build a new one, ill be able to get a rather huge performance boost for minimal $. I leave my PC on pretty much 24/7. those two above have to be my all around best buys for around $200-ish and are probably my top all around choices in general given I get plenty of use out of them etc. they should still give me several more years of use out of them which makes it even more efficient use of $. maxwellperfect Personally ill take a desktop over a laptop hands down, unless portability is paramount. because a desktop is just superior as you get a bigger screen and is more powerful for less $ and using a mouse is more efficient than using that basic touchpad. because if I had a laptop as my only computer, I would definitely have to invest in a mouse for it as it's annoying using the touchpad for any length of time as it slows me down as things take longer to do. Sure, laptops can be nice but only if I get a solid buy on them as it's not worth shelling out too much for these as I would rather put the $ towards desktop components. but if you got money to burn, or portability is your thing, then it might be worth shelling out a bit more $ for a mid-range or so laptop.
p.s. I did get a hold of a laptop not long ago for only $20 or so (although I upgraded RAM as I bought some used RAM on Ebay) and while it's CPU is definitely under-powered (it's easily the worst part of the laptop), it's usable for a general internet machine once I put Linux Mint on it as Windows 10 is too sluggish on it.

I regret paying for Kenny James' (Voice of Bowser) autographs at the Philadelphia comic con on my copy of Super mario 64 and on my friend's copy of Mario party (Which I'm too lazy to take a pic of) because I found out when he did a panel, that he wasn't the voice of bowser until 2005 i think that was over 100

Worth it - Imitation Fender Stratocaster / Washburn Semi Acoustic Guitar
Not worth it - I've rarely ever spent this much but the Hammond B3 Organ I bought springs to mind as I never got to use it ... (hopefully the next tenant put it to good use as it was bought on the cheap)
