This should never have been Oscar eligible in the first place much less win for Best Documentary.
Basically a TV mini-series, "O.J." got its eligibility through a technicality: its first screening was at the Sundance Film Festival and it had a limited threatrical run in L.A. just for Academy purposes. It has been on TV - its natural habitat - ever since.
That technicality is not closed.
