Does anyone know much about home theater projectors here?
I already have one but it is old. Want to upgrade.

I never been a fan of a projected image as it's a bit too soft for my taste. I tend to prefer a typical HDTV over anything projection. just some thoughts

Hmm I'd thought about getting one after my tv goes kaput. Sounds cool to have a big image unless it isn't very sharp.
I guess most movie theaters just project a 2k-4k blur ray file these days.

Does it matter getting a 4k projector if most of your films and tv shows are only 1080p ?

Maybe not, but I imagine more projectors are being made for 4k since people would want sharper images for them. Or maybe there is some advantage in sharpness by a kind of reverse of downscaling. That's what I assume anyway. I know cinemas must be using digital files if they keep bringing back older movies. The only ones I know getting brand new 35mm prints are those who do the special drive-in circuit that sprang up in recent times. Movies that are like 50 years old too.
