Didn't begin to do Richard Yates' searing novel justice.

B+ Re-watched it my 3rd time last month. First viewing didn't do anything justice, merely drawn in for Leo & Kate. Second was them just angry & upset the whole time, a turn off. Now it's more clear that they really weren't at odds, they were infatuated with the myth of ideal married life. I think both learned to accept that fighting over a myth is crazy. The director's commentary helped illuminate that, underscoring the strong source material of the timely novel. There isn't a good & bad guy in their pairing, they're just young, passionate, confused married ppl.
