I respect your opinion in that you think the music sucks... There is all kind of music out there. Most people won't like everything... But, calling the music from 40 (or so) years ago "dated" is just an absolute BS comment... Because NO MOVIE can ever be made FUTURE PROOF! It was IMPOSSIBLE for "Lethal Weapon" to have music from TODAY, because it wasn't even created yet!... It's always going to be an absolute fact, that if you watch a "40" year old movie, that you are always going to hear music from at least 40 Year ago! SO... older movies can NOT be "dated" for having music that was only available, at the time the movie was made!... If you believe other wise, then every movie ever made, or will ever be made, will always be 'Dated" and therefor, the term has no meaning! So stop using it! Oh my lord ok, here’s my full explanation: I dislike the music in the movie. All of it. I hate it. I also am of the mindset that if this came out in any other decade besides the 80s, it’d have a different musical score/soundtrack. It’s distinctly 80s and if it wasn’t then IN MY OPINION, both the soundtrack and the movie would be better. So “dated” felt like the best word for it. Since that clearly is not allowed, I’ll just say it’s terrible IN MY OPINION. Literally no one has to agree with me. Based on the replies I’d say no one does agree with me, too. So be it, I don’t care. You must think a lot of 80's movies are crap then. Honestly Die Hard feels just as 80's to me. The movie uses a crappy Run DMC song within the first 15 minutes.

I have 8 movies from the 80s on my Top 50 list (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Thing, The Empire Strikes Back, Die Hard, The Shining, Blade Runner, Evil Dead II, and Batman). Want to know what they all have in common? A creative and effective score. Even if it’s minimal (ie The Thing) or unorthodox (ie Evil Dead II), it’s genuinely effective in my opinion. Lethal Weapon’s is not effective or creative. And it’s not just the use of jazz-like music or some synth sound I don’t like. Taxi Driver and Blade Runner have scores that utilize both of those respectively and I love their scores. I just don’t like it. And I enjoy 80s cinema just as much as the next person.

I hugelyu disagree. It is more effective than the Die Hard score and similar in many ways. Same composer and it's very obvious. Note that none of the songs used in Lethal Weapon are from the 1980's. I accept the fact that you hate the score as much as I disagree with you, but there is nothing about it that screams 1980's to me. The Terminator is far more 1980's in feel to me than Lethal Weapon.

The Terminator is a terrific movie in every way, as is Lethal Weapon and Die Hard imo.
