So how would that work in all cases (Say a case where there are no kids involved and she's making as much or more than he is)?

My wife makes more than me and if we ever divorced, I'd never ask for spousal support. I don't believe in that. Child support, absolutely. Spousal support is for leeches.

Who are these divorced men that think this? Each situation is very different to the next. Any pre-nup agreements would have to be entered into and depending on incomes and children of course and who instigated the divorce and on what grounds. Some women are gold-diggers, some men are gold-diggers, but if stupid people can't see this before tying the knot for whatever reason, there is a consequence for being fools.

But if you're talking people in their late 50s and 60s divorcing it's not like a homemaker is going to start a 30 year career and get some pension in his or her senior years.

In such vase I believe the wealthy partner should offer but it should only be enforcable by law if the person is above 50, has been a home maker for at least ten consequtive years before that or is disabled.

There's always exceptions.

That's because every man knows one who got robbed in court.
Sure, it's not all cases but there are enough to be a real fear.

If they offer to give me a lift when I’m going to collect my suit from the dry cleaning who am I to refuse?
