Looking at this third week/weekend, it's sinking like the Titanic.
With major hits coming out every week in May from here forward, it will not quite get to 2.7 Billion.

That's because Endgame didn't charge 5 extra dollars for 3D glasses.
But who cares anyway.

I predict Avatars 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, etc., will not pass Avengers: Endgame or any of the Star Wars movies.

If you adjust for inflation, they're both behind "Gone with the Wind"

I thought "The Lion King" remake would be the highest grossing film this year, but trying to surpass Endgame seems like a very jaunting task.

I figured the Avengers franchise would start experiencing "sequel fatigue" and diminishing returns on their latest film (the first one came out 7 years ago), but I guess I figured wrong.

It's not a fun movie. It's grim and sad. Some people might see it twice, but my guess is most people won't. It's too long and not enough fun to repeat. Ironically I went and saw it the second time last night. Granted, I went with different people this time around.

I knew they were working a sequel but I didn't know they were planning on making multiple sequels. This sounds like 'Sin City' all over again and I remember they were talking about having multiple movies of that for years but when the sequel finally come out it was a disappointment.

Endgame can still do it. Remember it took Avatar 12 weeks to reach Endgames domestic total and over 30 weeks to reach its $2.7bn. Also it's opening was so huge the drops for the first few weeks will seem large.
I wouldn't count it out
