Before the bell rang. Too proud to call for it. After the bell rang felt extremely happy. Never placed value on any life but by the time she saw her end she began crying like a little girl.

That’s what all pieces of shit do. We see the same thing all the time in court: Suspects who will murder other people without even thinking about it, without an ounce of empathy, then suddenly they’re crying when it’s their life on the line, when they’re facing the prospect of life in prison.
Same deal with mobsters: They don’t care when they’re squeezing people, destroying families and destroying livelihoods, but the minute one of them has to go to prison, the wives and kids wail like the most terrible thing in the world happened.

Just glad she's finally dead. Wish it had been a little more brutal for her. I feel somehow cheated by her ending. It wasn't horrible enough.

I really like the job they did with Cersei all through the episode. Even the mountain didn't listen to her by the end. She was shown as a person who turned Yellow (as was the term used in classic Hollywood movies for cowards). A very realistic end for a cheap human being.

Did you get the impression she called for the ringing of the bells? I thought when I first watched that it was the citizens and the soldiers who did it without orders, but my second time through I wondered if we were supposed to think Cersei had ordered it offscreen.

Cersei proves what a coward she really is before she finally dies. .

I think it may have been some Lannister Soldiers who decided on their own or maybe Jaime. That said it was never revealed so maybe Cersei. I tried to read the same thread on GOT reddit and didn't get any conclusive answer. Have you only seen the episode once? I saw episode 2 & 3 twice but will probably not see the complete episode 5 again because it was too violent.

In before Leo says she was crying for her people. The sad thing is that he probably actually believes that she did that.

No, I never ever got the impression she called for the bell to be rung.

I think it was whoever the bellringer was supposed to be. At that point in time she didn;t even know her army surrendered. I thought the bell was stupid though. You wouldn't be able to ring it in the battle and actually have an effect. The time to ring it, per Dany's agreement with Tyrion was before the battle.

I couldn't tell, I just watched it again and still can't. Her soldiers in the street threw down their swords before the bells rang when Dany landed the dragon, and then the 'ring the bells' calls started. Next a reaction shot of Cersei like she's trying to speak but cannot bring herself to do it. Then later after some shots of Jaime, Tyrion and Dany the bells start ringing and Cersei closes her eyes and gulps. I don't know what they tried to imply.
I can buy a city having a surrender signal hoping it might save pointless slaughter after the battle was won. It might not always work but I can't blame them for trying.

To me, Cersei's actions are the tell. She couldn't bring herself to surrender since she's always managed to squeak by. However, from a practical standpoint, it was impossible for her to signal the bell being rung. She herself would have to provide a visible marker, either a light or bell (A string of bells ringing throughout the city and starting/ending at Red Keep would have been awesome actually). When Tyrion let Jaime go, he was trying to convince him to ring the bell no matter what if he failed with Cersei. I assumed that it didn't take a dragon scientist to know that ringing the bell was for the best. But you;re right, they didn't provide a detail so I'm not the type to dwell on it and especially considering how horrible the story became after that.

I figured they'd just send a raven, or even just a signal from the rooftops offscreen. My inclination is she didn't signal as they didn't show it.
I agree it's not that big a deal but I was curious what others thought and whether I'd missed something.

I've wondered about this too. I've watched the episode twice. The first time I questioned whether she called for the surrender bells...the second time, I was almost sure they did it without her. They knew they were beat.

Maybe I missed something but didn't Jaime ring the bells? - you saw him heading towards the bell tower and then after they rang it cut to him escaping to the beach. Plus Tyrion wanted him to convince Cersei to do it.

Plus Tyrion wanted him to convince Cersei to do it. That is what I thought as well but to be fair it is still a mystery because no one was shown doing so. I checked the topic on various forums and there are mixed replies.
