He's a great coach, I don't know why he wants to be an empty suit for one of the most incompetent franchises in the NBA.

Why not the Kings at all.

Sad to lose him after 12 wonderful years, but wish him the best.
He's a great college coach, but I'm not sure if that will translate.

It rarely does, only because 'NBA Coach' is a contradiction in terms. Coaches don't do anything in the NBA. If you have talent, you win. If you don't you lose. It's why you almost never have upsets in series and nobody 'comes out of nowhere' to go on a championship roll. Talent wins out in this league and the coach has nothing to do with it. A bad coach can sabotage a good team, but with rare exception a good NBA team is 95% players and 5% coaching.

And Cleveland is a bad team that needs to stay bad as they lose their first round pick in 2020 if it is outside the top 10 (then it turns into 2 second rounders.) They have Houston's late pick this year and Milwaukee's (most likely) late pick in 2022. They'll also have their own top 5 draft pick the next few years and they will have to hope to get lucky. I'm not sure he'll still be the coach for the 2022 draft.

Even if he fails, he can go back to college where top tier programs will be chomping at the bit to hire him. Just seems like a waste of time to me. I'd rather coach Michigan than most NBA teams, let alone Cleveland.

Maybe he missed the part about LeBron not being there anymore.

I'm probably way off on this -
But I love conspiracy stories.
I wonder if Beilein is bolting because some sanctions may be coming down on Michigan and he's getting the hell out of there....
