No, because this is an action adventure superhero movie with time machines and alien invaders. Princess Leia made jokes after her planet was destroyed and the rest of the galaxy was facing the same fate. Indiana Jones made jokes when the Nazis were getting away with the Ark. He also made jokes after seeing the power of God melt a bunch of Nazi's. John McLain made jokes while crawling through an air duct, bleeding, and trying to stop a gang of terrorists that were threatening to kill his wife. Martin Riggs imitated the 3 stooges while trying to take down 3 armed drug dealers. Riggs also made jokes while being tortured when he had no reason to believe that he was going to be rescued or survive. Kevin Smith and Marc Benardin interviewed the writers Marcus and Mcfeeley for 2.5 hours on this weeks Smodcast. And they briefly touch on this. Their pov seems to be that in real life there are no tones. I don't know the direct quote but it was something to the effect of.. In your most depressed sad times people reflexively joke and it can't be the most happiest joyous time and people can be depressed. Yes i get gallows humour and all that. Im specifically talking about Starlord and that kick in the nutz scene in the middle of a war. This is the same character who was responsible for fucking up the plan to remove Thanos' gaunlet that could have saved billions of lives in Infinity War. So now by a 14 million-1 miracle, hes brought back to life along with the others that ''died''. Should he not feel immense guilt from his fuck up and focus 200% to try and defeat Thanos and his army in the final battle. Hes still acting like a dufus high school teen whose talking to his crush and leaving himself and others open to attack whilst making childish nutz jokes. Hes a liability. Dont give me the ''oh its just how he is'' BS. He should be a competent adult that learns from mistakes. The scene is there, as usual to get cute laughs from kiddies, rather than serving the situation. What if the gaunlet had landed near him and he couldnt pick it up as he was occupied goofing around with Gamora. Could have cost the team AGAIN And whats even worse, after its all done he isnt called out for his errors and doesnt apologise himself. Hes just acting his same idiot self with no humility arguing whos the captain of his ship lmao

He's a not exactly a hero at best he's Chaotic Good (and just so almost Chaotic Neutral). And him stopping in battle to interact with Gamora is in his character. He was emotionally stunted child that grew up becoming a thief from a Kree Gladiator. Holding his emotions in isn't part of his make up. Sometimes it helps. Him breaking the spell of Ego when he learned Ego killed his Mom. Sometimes it hurts. Going apeshit learning Gamora was killed. I was surprised his reaction wasn't to run up to her and embrace her. The joking about getting kicked in the nuts is classic way to defuse rejection. Which he got a heaping helping of. I look at 90% of Starlords Joking and Bluster is hiding how insecure he really is and it makes sense for that character. A person like that I wouldn't expect to apologize for the huge fuck up.

But this is a fight for the fate of the multiverse the stakes couldnt be higher. Considering Starlord fucked up majorly when the Avengers tried to get the glove off Thanos on Titan, shouldnt Quill be extra focused to get the mission complete instead of goofing around making nutz jokes. No, because this is an action adventure superhero movie with time machines and alien invaders. Princess Leia made jokes after her planet was destroyed and the rest of the galaxy was facing the same fate. Indiana Jones made jokes when the Nazis were getting away with the Ark. Martin Riggs imitated the 3 stooges while trying to take down 3 armed drug dealers. Riggs also made jokes while being tortured when he had no reason to believe that he was going to be rescued or survive. Excellent examples! And as I've explained to charzhino in the past, people in real life make jokes in dire circumstances. If he ever gets out of his parents' basement and experiences life, he'll understand that well written films reflect reality in this way. Real people have complex emotions and react differently to intense situations, they don't all scowl and scream at each other at top volume all the time like an X-Men film.

So it is "just who he is'' then. Wow, even after being responsible for trillions of deaths because he couldnt restrain him self for 10 seconds, not only does no one call him out on it (he is ultimately responsible for Widows and Starks deaths), but he also hasnt seemingly changed at all. Look at how intense Thor was at the bbeginning when hes visibly distraught. Starlord on his revival still acts like a spoiled, idiotic child that could have cost his side once more with his clowning antics infront of Gamora. And we should all turn a blind eye and say, oh well its just silly old loveable bufoon Peter Quill. Not like his actions lead to trillons of deaths. If he was written with any decency, I would expect him to be fully focused on seeing the job through when he was reanimated. When he sees Gamora, gives an quietly smiling nod, in the assurance she is alive and well then refocus on the mission at hand. You know learn from his mistakes and not start making a circus sideshow of himself. Thor learned from selfishness in Thor 1 after Odin cast him out. No one has done anything to quill hes still a jerk

Can't be an excellent post when he completely ignores my point on Peter Quills actions can it lmao I told you i get gallows humour. Seen it in xmen films when Wolverine in X3 jokingly asks Beast he thought he was a diplomat in the big battle. Or when Wolverine kicks the guy in the nuts and says "grow those back" ![::laugh::](https://s26.postimg.cc/tek3suwt5/laugh.gif) . That was funny and functional. Difference with Quill is hes not focused on the mission at hand which is the reason they are fighting thanos and army in first place. He would have been chomping at the bit to make amends for his original fuck up but the writers decided to make cute little sideshow to get the kids giggling at expense of story. Sorry but Xmen films 3rd acts are written much better because focus of all characters is on the mission. No room for cookie cutter jokes and lame gags that decrease tension or dont serve the story. Its not in the comics, its a Disney bastardization, this is why Xmen Disney will fail

They are Murders, Thieves, Reformed Assassin, and one chick that stood by and watched a powerful being kill 1000's of his children. They are lovable rogues. They aren't heroes. They do good sometimes, but on any given day they would/could rob a person blind.

"Everyone else's jokes work perfectly fine except for the guy in the Marvel movie." Genius argument. Context. If a Thanos minion had took Gamora or Starlord by surprise and killed them whilst they were distracted, I wonder if theyd still be making wisecracks then. Hmm something to ponder.

You could may argue X-Men 2 but X-Men 3 isn't as good as the worse Avengers movie.

Beast is portrayed right, "professor hulk" is a joke Endgame butchered thor by making him a fat fortnite rage gamer. Id take Cyclops dying at hands of Phoenix over that Xaviers and Jeans death scenes are just as epic and intense as Widows and Starks Endgames timetravel has many plot holes and inconsistencies Final battle in Endgame looks like a video game. X3s alcatraz battle is using real practical sets and effects, looks more real and has original dust-away effects that Infinity War copied Endgame is bloated at 3hrs

That didn't happen. It could and should have happened with so many enemies. More evidence of contrived writing to protect Gamora and Starlord from enemy attacks in the middle of a battlefield so they can have a cute moment

It doesn't help. Just shows you need to lie to make a point. Also, don't reference X3.

Let's face it, if the MCU made movies like how Charzino wanted then they would never have been as successful as they are now. Heck, they probably wouldn't have made it past the first IM movie.

You could may argue X-Men 2 but X-Men 3 isn't as good as the worse Avengers movie. Its better than Endgame. X3s alcatraz battle is using real practical sets and effects, looks more real and has original dust-away effects that Infinity War copied Endgame is bloated at 3hrs Said no one...ever Beast was portrayed right, but should have been a CGI character. Instead he looks like a werewolf in a cheap Halloween costume. Professor Hulk was a natural progression of the character that was sadly underutilized in the finale. Thor was bad-ass at the end of the film. Anyone would take that over Cyclops and his two seconds of wasted screen time any day. Cyclops has to be one of the most underutilized characters in comic book movie history. But of course, you're probably fine with that since it's a Fox-Men film. Yeah sure, Xavier exploding like a pinata and Jean who spends the entire moving standing and staring gets an overly melodramatic death scene that garners laughs instead of emotion. Time travel isn't real. There's a lot of wiggle room. You either go along with it or you don't. If you're nitpicking the mechanics and every other little detail, then you fail to realize the primary purpose of the film, which is to entertain. The final battle in Endgame couldn't have been done any other way with the amount of characters involved and the scale of the conflict. It was a proper finale that was expected and it delivered on almost every level. The final battle in X3, like everything in the Fox-Men films, was small in scale and underwhelming, with many asking where the money for the movie was spent. It certainly wasn't on the screen. Endgame only seemed bloated to you because you probably got tired after a while trying to keep track of all of the things to complain about.
