They don't have the rights to those characters for two years. But yeah, it would've been great.

Kevin Feige had no involvement in the Marvel Netflix shows. Any connections they have to the MCU are one sided at best. The better question is, why didn’t Fury and SHIELD show up to lend a hand?

A couple connections were nicely teased. I think Jessica Jones' mother was in danger of being sent to the same prison warehousing Hawkeye, Ant-Man, etc. But it would be cool of there were overlap in the movie. Highly unlikely to happen, but it could be neat.
My guess would have been someone like Rogers or Hawkeye fighting someone, spilling into a bar and getting a last minute unexpected assist from Luke Cage who sees what's happening and human shields them from their firepower. That or maybe Jessica Jones could be in there drink, sees what's happening and kick a table over that flattens Thanos' henchmen into a wall, preferably two in one shot.
But yes, no Feige.

I've an idea how the conversation went down with the Avengers during the New York attack.
IM: Okay we gotta get these people to safety.
DS: Careful, that's a blind man. Dressed like a gimp.
PP: What's a gimp Mr. Stark?
IM: Ask your aunt kid.

Anyway to answer the thread, the portal did open but unfortunately:
1. Luke Cage was too busy having coffee 2. Jessica Jones was too drunk 3. Daredevil didn't see the portal 4. Danny Rand did try to approach the portal but Wong saw who it was and went, "Oh hell no!" then immediately closed the portal.

In every other scenario Strange saw, Iron Fist screwed it up and they lost. This was the one where they kept him as far away as possible.
