The ears, the appearance or brains? Of those three appearance and brain other animals have ears (most can probably hear better and more than we), but they don't look like us nor or as smart.

The ears, the appearance or brains? Gorillas come the closest in looks but are hairer and stronger. BUT NOT as intelligent.

What about fictional Xenos (extraterrestrial folk or magical creature folk), cyborgs/androids, furries (animal humanoid people like in furry fandom artworks and Bojack Horseman) and mutants? they are people who are different and all and equals to humans. Even though Xenos do exist somewhere in the universe.

What makes a human a human? Too many things to count.
Once you think you've got it nailed down, some other thought comes into play to question what it really means to be human.
This brings up the recent thread about robots/androids. What would make them human? Many of us decided that aside from the fact that their bodies might be made of plastics that they would pretty much be human, as long as they had at least human level intelligence and an emotional life as well.
I would imagine that if the plastics that their bodies are made of make them look exactly like people, in every way, that we would accept them as human even more so. Appearance matters so much to us. we're a visual species after all.
But then if we spent enough time with this human looking android we would notice that in its personality and behavior that its not human. Things would start to seep through and we'd notice the difference. So emotion and capacity also matter.
It's got to be a combination of many things that finally add up to be being human.
But maybe you're talking about what makes a person a good and kind human being? In that case, who knows? People can through exactly the same experiences and end up being totally different people.
On the other hand there are some humans I don't consider human, so...

Awareness of our own mortality "Since that fateful day when stinking bits of slime crawled from the sea and shouted to the cold stars, 'I am man', our greatest dread has always been the knowledge of our mortality." Dr. Friedrich Frankenstein, Young Frankenstein (1974) before hoisting his 'creation' up into the lightning. A grain of truth imbedded in a comedic gem.
