The audience is upset. Game Of Thrones is an intelligent story showing how people misuse power even with supposedly good or at least "right" sounding intentions. For some unclear reason, it became popular and attracted the masses. It misled them season after season, led them to believe that the "good" father would prevail who started a war no one needed after he discovered a genetic secret no one should care for. The fool was beheaded instead. Then they believed the one who thought himself "the rightful king" would win his own war, or maybe it would be the smiling ambitious brother with the larger army. Both failed. Then the son of the "good father" got himself and his family slaughtered for continuing the war no one needed in the first place. In parallel to this, an entitled descendant of a former dynasty mastered weapons of mass destruction and openly claimed she would come to "take what is hers, with fire and blood", and with the slave soldiers she allegedly freed but still used as soldiers together with a whole people of murdering, pillaging, raping and enslaving savages. She was pretty, though, and burned people for "good reasons" while riding dragons on positive sounding music. When she finally came and turned just as terrible as it always sounded, the mass audience who had fallen in love with her turned all sour and bitter and angry. They think it's not a good story after all, because they rooted for the villain all along and didn't know they did. |

they got what they deserved for believing in her  even after she burned everyone , some are still excusing her behavior, couldn't be dany no no it was bran ,he warged in the dragon ,..LOL meanwhile dany threatened to burn down cities since beginning of the show. Jorah S1 to dany : , sell them ( dragon eggs) return to the free cities and live as a wealthy woman for all your days

I don't think its being smarter than the audience as much as in Western culture it is considered attractive to have a strong leader and Hollywood hates that even though it goes back to King Arthur and Beowulf. In the 1920s Conan the barbarian went from fighter to ruler of a kingdom or two (and he wasn't depicted as a tyrant).
Robin Hood reflects that kind of sentiment.
Modern Hollywood despises any kind of alpha qualities.
They love someone like Macron who is a weakling but propped up by a democratic bureaucratic mob.
The attraction of a strong assertive leader will never disappear because it reflects ancient tribal culture in Europe.

The point it was making was visible early one and the idiots didn't see it. I am not talking about disagreement here, but of misunderstanding. The strong assertive leader, by the way, was Tywin. He was the good one and these leftards made him a villain. Daenerys was the leader of the weak, of the resentful. This is always tyrannical by nature.

A statue of a human figure still adheres to concepts of truth and Nature regardless of what political message may be intended. Sincere depictions of human nature in the Iliad is the reason it can still be read and understood 2000 years later. It's not a political screed.
I certainly would not expect to find much art in a modern corporate product, but that doesn't negate the fact that the public sees entertainment in the same way Homer's audience did. The filmmakers may not understand that or not care, but that's a problem with them, not the audience.
The Sopranos focused on a psychopath. The creator said he didn't want to gratify audience expectations that it ends with him being killed. Maybe-or maybe they wanted to keep it open for a reunion show-who knows. But it is the creator who chose to focus the show on a psychopath. The audience is not responsible for the actions of the creators.
