I watched two films today, both spun-off from a TV series:
Life in Emergency Ward 10 (1959, UK, 83 minutes) - 7.5/10. This film was based on the popular TV soap opera "Emergency Ward 10" (1957–1967), a series for which most episodes are lost. The soap origins of the film are pretty obvious, but it's still entertaining (the show itself, based on surviving episodes, was also quite good), and it's all rather genteel compared to modern soaps.
Head (1968, USA, 85 minutes) - 8/10. Starring rock group the Monkees, nearly 50 years later this is still one of the strangest films ever produced!

Are You Being Served? (1977, UK, 92 minutes) - 6/10. In the 1970s it was common to make feature films based on British TV sitcoms. Unfortunately, a lot of the time the resulting film was nowhere near as good as the show it was based on. This film is mildly amusing but the original TV series is much better.
I cannot recommend the film.

Dirty Harry
It's a cartoonish ode to right wing views on law and order and unashamedly so. Polished sleaze. Nice soundtrack.
Ok I did see Transformers: Age of Extinction since then.

I watched Assassin's Creed last night. Jesus Christ what a shit movie. 3/10 for the actual Assassin action which is at most fifteen minutes. I heard it was cut from a 2.5 hour movie to a hundred minutes. It shows.

Serendipity
Haven't seen it in ages and decided to watch it......for reasons......anyways, yeah.............it's nowhere near as charming as I remembered it.
Now there are nice little moments, like when Cusack opens the book to find her name, and our two leads are solid (I forgot how charming and lovely Beckinsale was), but it's the supporting cast that falls short, as well as the "leave it all to destiny" theme....as well some dialogue.
overall it's a sappy little late 90s early 2000s rom-com. However, I will say that I have a feeling this film will vary in quality depending on your mood....so maybe I am/was in a bitter mood.
5.9/10

ABBA: The Movie (1977, Sweden/Australia, 95 minutes) - 8/10. For ABBA fans, this film, which combines concert footage with some sort of plot, is a must-see. I always enjoy watching it. People who aren't ABBA fans would probably hate it though.

The Belko Experiment - Was a pretty decent movie. Was kind of interesting to put yourself in their situation and trying to figure out who of them you'd be. Solid 6/10

Timecop. 8/10. This is probably Van Damme's best movie. Interesting plot, good characters and Bruce McGill.

The Way We Live (1959, Australia, 54 minutes) - 7.5/10. What happens when a company best known for producing commercials, Artransa Park, is hired to produce a feature film? The result, of course, is a feature length commercial! This was produced to encourage British people to move to Australia. There are scenes of housing, industry, shopping, education and so on. It depicts Australia as a modern, middle-class nation complete with international style skyscrapers and suburban housing.
It can be viewed on YouTube as uploaded by the copyright holder.

Nothing wrong with "Right Wing" approach to crime, that's why the movie was a hit--You must not have seen the sequel, Magnum Force(1973) right wing to the extreme!--or Death Wish(1974) a classic!--All big hits

And no I don't have a problem with it. I guess I mean cartoonish in the way in which the politicians and judiciary enabled the killer. It's a little exaggerated. I doubt the Scorpio Killer would have been released like that, for example.

Point Break (1991). It's probably my favorite action film. It has a clever, original plot and a good cast. 9/10
I watched The Shallows last night. I thought it was really good. The shark action was excellent. and or course Blake Lively is always charming. I thought it needed more shark scenes, though. 7.5/10
