www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48330478ZZ doesn't fancy him. The other players resent the fact that he makes no attempt to learn the local language. He apparently communicates in grunts, rather like Caesar of the "Apes" movies, to whom he bears a striking resemblance. He has a contract until 2022 which will pay him mega-money whether he plays or not. He is adamant that he will see out his contract. RM want rid of him now, because at his age, his value in 2022 will likely be a fraction of what it is now. So, there is an impasse The other factor is that ZZ may not last for another 3 years. Their results have not been good since he took over. (Lost at the weekend at home, 0-2 to Real Betis) He would walk into most teams in the EPL but none of them would be prepared to match his wages in Madrid. He says that he won't mind going off to play golf if ZZ doesn't pick him but will he miss playing football? Many many retired players claim that they quit too soon and they badly miss playing. Watch this space...unless Andy Serkis gets fired and there is an opening for GB to become a movie star.

Not sure what his appearance has to do with anything. Like any person in any job with a short career span he no doubt wants to maximise his earnings and I would guess he would struggle to match the wage he is now on. Real can easily pay up his contract and let him leave if they so wish, but why should the employee take the loss instead of the employer? He may well be sad that he lost playing time at the end of his career but he has a duty to his family as well, and no matter how much you earn you tend to live to that level so a huge pay cut deeply affects you. You sure this isn't about having some sort of dislike for the lad?

The footie will be back in a month or two

I hope he stays and squeezes every last dollar out of them/or they give him a big payoff. He scored some massive goals for them but never got the respect, pity he didnt stay clear of injuries. I predict he'll be there longer than Zidane btw I always thought he looked like a monkey too, or a member of an early 90's Madchester band .......... www.bbc.com/sport/football/48332715
