WB has already made it clear that they’re going to be placing less emphasis on an interconnected universe, but what is supposed to become of the universe that Snyder started? Obviously, the first thing a lot of people would argue is that they should just reboot the whole thing, but there’s a bit of a problem with that. They still have several films within the current universe coming out, including Wonder Woman and Aquaman sequels. I’ve heard people suggest that they just ignore all the other films, and treat Wonder Woman as the start of a new universe, but that just doesn’t work. The Wonder Woman film directly ties itself in with the character’s subplot from BvS. Meanwhile, as far as Aquaman is concerned, that film directly references the events of Justice League.
Apart from that, there’s the question surrounding Matt Reeves’ Batman movie. Is it a prequel? Is it a reboot? If it’s the former, that could potentially limit the kinds of stories you can tell, and if it’s the latter, that’s going to confuse a number of people, especially if it’s coming out the same year as a Suicide Squad film that features much of the same cast of characters as the previous film. Plus, if it is a reboot, does that mean we can expect to see yet another incarnation of the Joker?
It really seems like WB/DC are in a confusing situation right now.

Yeah it's a real shit-show. Wasn't this supposed to be "expanded" into Worlds of DC or something like that? Like not quite Elseworlds but permitting separate stories? Since we do have that Joker movie coming out despite already having a Leto Joker (for now). Maybe they can just recast for the Snyder-verse and Matt Reeves can do his own Batman series to his heart's delight.

I think the “Worlds of DC” thing was just part of a banner that they presented at Comic Con.

I thought it had been established that the interconnectivity was gone. From what I understand, WW isn't even a sequel to the first film. The continuity has already been destroyed by Aquaman, where the events of JL are openly discussed yet Arthur seems to be meeting Mera for the first time. Seems like the DCEU is just a bunch of loosely related stories instead of a connected universe like the MCU. Embrace that approach and see where it goes. The DCEU has already failed as a connected universe, they literally have nothing to lose at this point.

Is the trident he gets from Mera in JL different from the one he gets in Aquaman? I only saw it once. Also, isn't Steve Trevor in WW84? How does that work? And if it is a direct sequel, what the hell was she doing between WWI and 1984? This universe is a mess that they're making up as they go along. It's better off as a series of one-offs.

As for Steve Trevor being in WW84, we have to wait and see what happens, but it’s been suggested that he gets brought back to life.

Same director, same lead actress and lead actor. Who's dumb enough to think that WW84 isn't a sequel to the 1st one? And yes, Aquaman does suggest that Arthur and Mera already met. When Arthur sees Mera for the 1st time in Aquaman, he doesn't ask "Who are you?". He talks to her like they've met before. Why would anyone think they're meeting for the 1st time?

They just made it more confusing, given that Reeves' Batman is nothing to do with Batffleck now or even taking place in the DCEU.

I think they dont even know what they want. They are just making movies and seeing what sticks. Also going to break continuity as well.

I think they’re just hoping people don’t think about it too much.
The issue is that they can’t just abandon the original DCEU crew. Wonder Woman was a smashing success, and Aquaman made over a billion dollars. It seems they want us to forget about Batman and Superman so they can reboot those two.
Maybe a Flashpoint movie could “fix” all of this? I don’t know. They might just pretend nothing’s wrong honestly.

I honestly wouldn't mind another Batman/Superman crossover where they're allies, not enemies.

1 ) Won't they just make a WW / Aquaman / Shazam film?
2 ) Who really cares?

Contrary to popular (and perhaps justified) belief, he can be an interesting character in a good movie. As for Batman, Matt Reeves was made for this job. If he focuses and writes something even slightly clever and engaging...whoo, I can't wait. His eye for stunning visuals is aces. I'd rather they focus on those solo efforts, but a team-up would probably be inevitable if they succeeded anyway.

WB has already made it clear that they’re going to be placing less emphasis on an interconnected universe, but what is supposed to become of the universe that Snyder started? It really seems like WB/DC are in a confusing situation right now. ALL valid points. It seems like DCEU is in fuck it mode. Just do whatever works, and what doesn't let go by the wayside. No real overall plan any longer. Snyder may have effed things up, but at least there was a plan. Personally I don't see why they couldn't just move forward again with a new plan, but what do I know?
There is one problem... Whether they go with standalone movies or a shared universe, they've already established that the current day/shared universe version of Batman (as played by Ben Affleck) is middle aged (Affleck is now 47). But clearly the version that they're going to move on with is a younger one (Pattinson is currently 33). The only way to reconcile the two is... A) Ignore what's come before and just move forward, age and inconsistencies be damned. Or... B) A time travel story where they bring the young Pattinson version into the present to be the current/shared universe version. If MCU can do it, so can DCEU.
And then, what about Superman? To Cavill or not to Cavill? That is the question...
No matter what they do, I would like to see this resolved because I honestly think they can STILL make a great Justice League movie if they just stopped effing around!

It looks like there will be two separate continuities.

It looks like there will be two separate continuities. So you foresee the Robert Pattinson franchise, and a separate older current day Batman (say Jon Hamm?) that only appears in Justice League/team up movies? Is that what you mean?
Personally, I could live with that. Its the other fans that get crazy. "I'm confused!!!"

I wouldn’t count on there being another Justice League movie anytime within the next decade.

I'm thinking they are sorta rebooting the DCEU into a multiverse. Wonder Woman 84 might be a sequel to Wonder Woman, but it isn't a part of the Snyder trilogy. In the Snyder trilogy she went away after Wonder Woman. Nobody knew about her outside of the people in World War 1. But in WW84, they show her operating in the open. So people did see Wonder Woman being heroic in 1984. And that is not long enough for people to forget about metahumans and be surprised by Superman.
