In Cold Blood as far as his movies go, but I think his work on The Outer Limits was the most amazing thing he ever did. INCUBUS has a strong Outer Limits feel, even using some of the music cues. Leslie Stevens was responsible for both.

American Beauty looks a lot better than Road to Perdition to me. Road to Perdition is almost too dark and lifeless. It comes off as cold.

I think In Cold Blood towers among his work - coming just as colour became the norm in Hollywood, it was a superb use of b&w which adds immensely to the chilling atmosphere of the piece.
I also voted for Searching for Bobby Fischer, a lovely and underrated film which looks terrific.

Leslie Stevens was responsible for both. Yeah, I never saw that but I remember Leonard Maltin said it plays like an Ingmar Bergman version of an Outer Limits episode.
