www.sfchronicle.com/warriors/article/Kevin-Durant-on-whether-Warriors-are-better-13895259.phpKevin Durant isn’t subscribing to the narrative that the Warriors are better without him. "As a player, I think about that, and I just think, ‘Oh, that’s just not true,’" Durant said after practice Friday. "That’s just not facts when it comes from a basketball perspective." Durant, who has missed the past five games with a strained right calf, has yet to get cleared for on-court work and is unlikely to play Game 1 of the NBA Finals next Thursday. In Durant’s absence, the topic of whether Golden State is better without him has become a national talking point

Yes, of course, Durant is a great player and has been a huge part of the Warriors dynasty, saying they are better off without him is stupid. They are just a dominant team all around and will win the NBA Finals with or without Durant.

It doesn't matter how great your team is and the Warriors are great, they're still even better when you add the best player in the league.

Is this a real question?

Obviously not but I love how they revert to their old ways of a more team oriented offense without him. Truly a great team along the lines of the SA Spurs.

I do think they’re better without him in many ways, but not in every way. He does tend to stagnate the defense and when the ball is in his hands, the team is deprived of the passing rhythm that makes them so devastating. This is especially obvious in seeing what Draymond Green does without Durant on the floor, and what Curry does offensively.
People do not realize how special Curry and Thompson are in terms of not giving a fuck about their own stats and happily bringing on a player who will get a ton of credit, perhaps even more credit than they do.
Look at assholes like Carmelo Anthony: When he went to OKC he spent every single post-game press conference talking about the personal “sacrifice” he was making, never shutting the fuck up about it, even at 33/34 years old when it should have occurred to him long ago that team basketball is the only way to win.
Look at Kobe Bryant, one of the game’s most selfish players, who ran other superstars out of town and constantly caused problems with his selfishness.
Look at Russell Westbrook, perhaps the most selfish player of all time, who will happily take more shots than the four other starters on his team despite his miserable lack of efficiency, AND demand that the bigs on his team sacrifice their own rebounding numbers so he can average triple doubles.
Look at Lebron James, who has devalued teammates at every stop in his career, accepts coaches as mere figureheads, and demands to be a player, coach and GM all at once, drawing his own plays, making his own substitutions, boxing his coaches out of huddles, humiliating them on national TV, and demanding his front offices give contracts to players he tells them to. (Hello Tristan Thompson and JR Brick!)
Curry and Thompson are like a low maintenance dream in comparison to the typical NBA superstar ego.

Draymond Green also deserves a special shout out for coming back alive with KD out. Maybe it was obvious he would but I don't recall any of the talking heads on TV predicting that.

Yes and No. I think they get a bit lazy when Durant is playing (like they sort of go through the motions which makes the team more lazy) where as when he's not there, they seem a bit more focused since they have to be and keeps the overall team a bit sharper etc.
I always refer to him as King Ego as he's the player I dislike the most in the entire league.

Anyone who says a team is better off without 2019 Kevin Durant should have their Subway Club Card revoked.
