I bet they do. My pub team also want equal pay and are and given that they draw crowds of 6/7, sometimes 10, they have as much chance as the proverbial snowball...just like the ladies. I'm not being sexist (oh, yes you are) but how much money are Sky offering the ladies to be allowed to televise their games? www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48405666

Had to laugh at first but then my son pointed out that I think they are referring to the money paid for playing International football. Not sure if he is right or not.

How hard is it to understand that the principle of equal pay for equal work does NOT apply to sports?

That's what the American women have been asking for. There was one Nordic country (Norway I think) that instituted the policy a few years ago. Of course in their professional clubs the men still earn much more than the women, for obvious reasons.

And I think they should. However I also think payment for playing for your country should be a nominal amount, e.g. covering expenses, with the rest invested back into the infrastructure / grass routes. So that wouldn't help them.

Except for Markus Schenkenberg I have never known a male fashion model by name, and it was or is the likes of Cindy Crawford or Giselle Bündchen who are the big names of the business. They - SJW/metoo etc. pp. - never complaint about this.

How hard is it to understand that the principle of equal pay for equal work does NOT apply to sports? Equal? If you attract more people (=> ticket buyers, subscribers, merchandise buyers, advertise viewers; all these kinds of revenues etc. pp.) and thus generate more income, then it is simply a difference. Hence, it also does apply for sport. The "work" is just not only to win the games or competitions, but also to win over a crowd of paying customers - in the millions, if not billions one day. And it is the Premier League or the NFL that generates these revenues. They pay has to be in a certain relation to the generated revenues.

I know it has gone up but for national sides, yes, it should be equal.

Are the women’s leagues subsidized by the men’s leagues the same way the WNBA is subsidized by the NBA?
People who market women’s sports should look to the UFC and the incredible interest around fighters like Ronda Rousey (who used her popularity to get an easier high profile entertainment gig), Cyborg Santos, Amanda Nunez, and former fighters like Miesha Tate and Gina Carano.
The UFC actually has women headlining mixed cards and competing for the same prize pool (knockout of the night, fight of the night bonuses) as the men, which is a level of equality I haven’t seen in any other sport.

Fuck 'equal pay', just get the wages under control in the men's game. Salary cap is long overdue.
