It's hard to argue that he's not a good director. But he obviously has/had some personal issues.

so now, we've all heard the news
WB in talks with Mel Gibson for SS2.
now while I think WB just wants to get the biggest name possible, and he likely won't take it, and maybe to also distract from the Batfleck debacle, thoughts on Mel taking SS2.

I'm the biggest "hater" of Mel Gibson you can find, I hate what he stands for, his views, his most recent movies... I wouldn't use Passion of the Christ to wipe my ass with, and I wish everyone involved in that movie (except Maria Bello) die in a slow house fire...
Now I got that out of my system...
Can you remember the last funny movie he made? Me neither! He's too fucking serious for a Suicide Squad movie, he will shit all over it. I wouldn't mind him directing something more serious like Shazam or even a Batman movie, a Batman movie by Mel Gibson would be grimm and violent, and I'd be there opening night... a Suicide Squad one? Nope.
Give Suicide Squad to Tim Miller (Deadpool).

Wouldn't a Suicide Squad ideally be pretty dang serious?

Remember when people said for a year "Suicide Squad should be R" granted idk if WB would go that route, but WB could try and aim for an R leaning film. Look WB is a mess, and making questionable choices, but they still want to make a movie that has some critical respect, money is still priority number 1, but positive reviews would be nice.

You know he called BvS sh@t right? Yeah, I know. Look I'm just saying WB is talking to him, and they're far more aware of his comments.

An interesting choice that would make me feel interested in a film I don't want.

I'm in on Mel doing it! He is a great director, don't care so much about his past anymore.

If it gives him a chance to direct more films like Apocalypto or Braveheart after SS2, then absolutely do it.

If they were established directors before these superhero films they'll probably have a career afterwards, this concern pertains to directors who weren't much prior to the movies, not in terms of talent, but in recognition.

Mel Gibson wants in on the DCEU? I don't care what he does in his off time. He's good, and that's enough for me.

I'd rather see him direct Batman, but that Vikings film is still something I'd rather see from him, along with the Maccabees. SS2? Definitely beneath him, and I'm fairly open-minded wih DCEU. I want to like their films, but SS didn't impress me in the least.
