I have slept with a fan on since I was eight years old. I don't think I have spent more than a dozen nights without a fan. I like to have at least two going on, medium or high. The white noise just lulls me to sleep in such a sweet, pleasant way. Blocks out everything....
Anybody else have to have the fan going on for sleep?

I have an air purifier and I turn it on full blast when I'm sleeping alone. When my girlfriend is in there she likes to play the tv for noise. I don't like that as much because I find myself listening to the program rather than falling asleep.

I have it on high even in the winter. Unlike you, I didn't have it on until more recently like within the last few years or so. But now it just seems too quiet if I try to sleep with it off and it feels weird. Yet I can fall asleep in other places without it.

While I wouldn't call it an absolute necessity, I definitely prefer a running fan or two while sleeping. I definitely agree that the soft noise is as important as the air itself.

Yes, but I don't need...
as I got one of those industrial grade fans which I had since 2002 and with that any higher than low is generally overkill and it drowns out background noise.
with that said... if I am really tired I can probably sleep without a fan. but as a general rule I have a fan going year round when I sleep.

I have a ceiling fan in my bedroom.
Any season except the summer, I don't turn it on.
For the summer, I have it on constantly to keep my room cool. When the sun comes around in mid to late afternoon, the heat is not tolerable.

I prefer to have a fan going, unless the room is too chilly. I can tolerate a slightly higher temp if there is moving air.
The low level white noise is soothing.
