Every year the BBFC publish a list of the top films to get the most complaints to them in Britain.
9. Venom -6 people complained about the 15 rating as it prevented under-15 fans, and parents' kids from seeing it.
8. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom -6 people complained about young kids being brought to watch it, despite it being a 12A which meant they could see it with adults.
7. Ready Player One -10 people complained about swearing and horror scenes being too strong for a 12A rated movie.
6. Love Simon - the trailer -18 people compained. All had issues with teenage sex and relations being discussed in a PG-rated trailer. 11 took issue with the protagonist being gay, believing gay relationships weren't appropriate to be showed at PG-rated level.
5. Show Dogs -31 people complained about a scene in which a police Rottweiler, going undercover at a dog show, has to let his genitals be inspected (a common practice in dog shows). The complainants were making similar protests to blogs going round at the time, thinking this scene might influence kids into lowering resistance to sexual predators touching them inappropriately.
4. Kaala -43 people complained - not really about content, they had issues with the filmmakers actions.
3. A Northern Soul -3 letters, and 45 postcards of protests about the harshness of the 15 rating, all feeling the casual strong language is normal at the age of 12, and there's no need to be overly strict about it.
2. Peter Rabbit -50 complaints. 4 about violent and upsetting scenes, the rest about a scene in which rabbits throw fruit at a guy hoping to provoke an allergic reaction. At PG rating, this was deemed by many of the complainers to be unsuitable for kids as they might emulate such behaviour.
1. Red Sparrow -64 complaints about the 15 rating being too lenient for some of the violence and sexual violence scenes.

I wouldn't complain if I were a Brit. Got enough trouble without the Thought Police showing up at my door.

I thought Brits were more socially liberal and less fundie than Americans. To be fair, just 18 people moaning out of 60 million ain't bad is it.

To be fair, just 18 people moaning out of 60 million ain't bad is it. Sure, but it's one of the top complaints. None of the criticisms are great in numbers. It still tells us something. Yeah... It tells us that British people don't really make complaints about films. A totally insignificant 0.0000299% complained.

I dunno...
I think if you think a movie sucks... sure... For you, it sucks... Complain away. Tell us how you feel.
If a movie offends you... then, don't watch the movie ever again. Live and learn.
It's when you whine about how you think that the movie should offend others... and you won't shut the fuck up about it... and/or try to get it banned to others won't be able to see it for themselves.. is when I have a real problem with you being a WAFFLE.

If you know anything statistics you'd be aware of sample polling, where a small sample group can represent the general population. Are you actually surprised that there are people in the UK who would complain about a film like Love, Simon being available to be seen by children? There are many people over here who would love seeing Thatcher’s Section 28 come back into law. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_28

Heterosexism is endemic to all of Western civilization. It strikes me as hilarious that even most heterosexual atheists are homophobic. It's as if Leviticus is ingrained in your psyches even if you reject the Bible. I don't think the Koran helps much either... www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-48480299

The Koran was influenced by the Bible. Actually, I am going to be bold here, it's them Jews that are to blame.

Actually, I am going to be bold here, it's them Jews that are to blame. No need to be an anti-Semitic douche. Paul gets some blame as well. Don’t be touchy, I’m just adding some more generalisations.

Don’t be touchy, I’m just adding some more generalisations. It's a generalization to say the Koran was influenced by the Bible? I was joining in with the blanket condemnation. If the Bible was mainly written by Jews (Paul was also Jewish) and the Bible is to blame for Western culture being homophobic then we have to blame the Jews.

If the Bible was mainly written by Jews (Paul was also Jewish) and the Bible is to blame for Western culture being homophobic then we have to blame the Jews. You're the one who started with a blanket condemnation of ethnic Jews. I'm talking about religion. Paul was Christian. And the main religion in the West is Christianity. What are you on about now? I'm desperately trying to find people to blame for these 18 complaints. If it's because of Western heterosexuals then we must find out where this vile hatred which produced 18 complaints originated from.

Stop trying to change the subject to Jews or anything else and address my point about religion and homophobia. I'm just pointing out where that religion came from.

I find it absurd, that each country have their own institutions and notions of what a film should be rated, when it is the same damn film. In some countries, say like the US, OZ and NZ, VENOM is un-restricted, but the UK feels that under 15's can't see it at all. Are children more sensitive in the UK? Ireland may allow a film to be seen with parental\adult guidance, but go to Northern Ireland, and it may be rated for no-one under a certain age to see it. As the Irish would say...Its a load of fookin' shite. Jesus Crikey, the way this is going different countries will start having different laws next.

So why are there different laws? Do you just accept what you are told, without looker deeper into the absurd conundrum called establishment control? Yes, let’s all sit down, have a big think and hopefully things turn out the way they should.

Yeah but to be fair, this is not sample polling, this is simply those people who felt strongly enough to complain, its not really comparable to a poll. Of course it's not a scientific sample. But the squeaky wheel gets attention first. The fact that more chose to complain about it tells us something. Otherwise, trash the whole list. Yeah that fact that people make such a complaint indicates that actually far more people were upset, given that it takes effort to complain and most people wont worry, still it is a laughably small number, hell I bet they are all called Muriel and Keith.

Yes, let’s all sit down, have a big think and hopefully things turn out the way they should. How sarcy and conceited of you stammy! Don't look deeper then if it makes life so much easier for you to keep your little head buried in the sand. Oh dear, TC resorts to petty insults once again.
