OKLAHOMA! (1955)

As a critic, I should say that OKLAHOMA! is a bad movie. The plot relies on a very light central conflict and more than half of the musical numbers aren't exactly a spectacle (the actors move slowly or even stand still while they sing). What happened? Well, time flew by (except for an overlong dream sequence) when I saw it (despite the fact that it's 145 minutes long). That means that I still enjoyed it. Also, the songs are catchy and the choreography (when there actually is dancing) is fun to watch. Now, I'd like to talk to some of the actors. Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones: I'm only saying you're doing fine. Your performances are much more than O.K. Gloria Grahame: I know acting and singing talent you lack... And for the talent you lack I'll give you flack. Yeeow! Ayipioeeay!
