I’m guessing they want to avoid the problem they faced with Shazam! and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, where they released the initial trailers at Comic Con, then waited many months before following up on them, thus possibly diluting the hype. Maybe they'll screen Joker at TIFF or something, assuming they have faith in it.

When I read Warner Brothers was skipping I had no clue why. Your hypothesis is very plausible.

Utterly ridiculous. I understand not wanting to show trailers, but surely they could announce at least one or two upcoming movies. Maybe some info on the Batman movie or some sort of confirmation as to when we can expect Flash and Green Lantern movies, This is a really dumb move.

I was disappointed by the news. I wanted to attend SDCC this year specifically because I knew they would drop a WW2 trailer. I heard speculation that WB wanted to focus their attention on IT Chapter 2 but its still disappointing.
