I used to watch this when I skipped school. I watched The Price is Right and the Young and the Restless too.
Funny thing with Donahue is that in his earliest episodes he was sooo mild in speech and attitude.
But then later on, he started to get these exaggerated mannerisms where he would open his eyes wide, talk loud and make flamboyant gestures. And yet, he never acted that way in private interviews so I assume it was an act he was told to do.
When Oprah arrived on the scene I felt she was cutting in on his shtick and the content of her shows was dumber in political discussions than his.
