I like it. I like the culture clash element to the show. A teenager from Philly has to adapt to a middle class environment in Bel Air. Will bullies Carlton for his height and general nerdiness, but he does care about him deep down. The storyline where Will and Carlton blackmail Hilary because she left college is one of my favourites.
James Avery was great as Uncle Phil. "DO I LOOK LIKE A WHITE GUY NAMED WARD?!" is one of my favourite quotes ever! James Avery was brilliant! Can't imagine anyone else as Uncle Phil. May he RIP.
10/10

An interesting look at social mobility and assimilation into mainstream middle-class lifestyles.

It was a very good series in its time--think we saw every episode--Interestingly,it was the Number one show with black viewers, but only 36th with white viewers Are you saying black viewers have shitty taste? What list had it ranked #36 with white viewers?

Difficult to say. The first three seasons were good, but it quickly went downhill when the first aunt Vivian was dropped.

I thought it was great and hysterical in the first season or so... with Will entering that party with his bright cumberbund wrapped around his chest like a bra.... can't go wrong with the Carlton dance... the constant kicking out of his friend... an older couple disappear but then re-appear with the lady's dress completely inside out, complete with the sewn in shoulder pads now looking like angel wings!!!!
but as most tv shows that center around children/teenagers the children and teens grow up. and the show should either end or allow the character to become an adult.
they should have ended it before they did the Darrin Stephens [replaced the original actress who played the mother] just let the show die. it is no longer funny to see a college student/graduate wearing bright flashy clothes and looking like a fool.
