I (met) saw jerry Stackhouse as a kid at the King of Prussia Mall outside of Philly (western burbs - giant famous mall out here).
I can say easily say he was a douche - but truth be told - I mean - don't some of these guys just want their privacy - he was shopping alone...………..

The one I often talk about on here involves a charity event I went to several years ago featuring several Met players. Most notably (for purposes of this story) were Matt Harvey and Curtis Granderson. Matt Harvey couldn't have been less interested. Constantly checking his watch, not even smiling when fans, even kids, went up to him and even getting angry when one kid wanted a picture with him, refusing to sign autographs and then immediately turning away, sulking in the shadows, just a total dickhead. During BP of Met games, Harvey was the guy who would ignore fans that were mere feet from him while other players are taking the time to shake hands, take pictures, sign things, even players on opposing teams!
Curtis Granderson, on the other hand, may have been the nicest person I've ever met in my life, athlete or otherwise. Just a genuinely nice guy who is always happy to talk to a fan and be earnestly engaged in conversation. I can't sing his praises enough. I was able to have a 10 minute conversation with him during the event and at no point did he check his phone, start to turn away or anything like that. Our conversation was natural and at the end he gave me a shug! The next day I happened to be at the Met game and during BP I was on the 1B side right next to the fence and Curtis came over to gladhand some fans. He not only recognized me in the stands but even remembered my name! It sounds stupid but in the day and age of athletes being so self-obsessed, a small genuine gesture like that goes a long way.
Through work, I've been able to meet and chat with Carmelo Anthony, Carlos Delgado, Derrick Rose to name a few. Rose was a Granderson-type, was always just a pleasure to be around and seemed to genuinely love giving young fans the thrill of a picture, autograph, etc.

I met Corso a little over a decade ago in Atlanta during the week of the SEC Title Game, it was back when he was still a good analyst and had all of his mental faculties, like I said, he was very nice, really cool guy. It’s sad to see how he’s slipped in recent years.

I always hear hearsay that Mark McGuire, Greg Norman, and Joe Montana are jerks.

I recently reread "Love Me Hate Me" about Barry Bonds.
I suggest everyone read this book. Your jaw will drop at some of the douchebaggy things Bonds did and it's just a continuous stream of wow moments. This guy was the biggest douche ever, and it's not even close.

I had a retail job back in the day and I had the opportunity to wait on Charles Barkley. Couldn’t have been nicer, real, down to earth. I’ve helped other non-athletes, most of them either nice or uneventful, but the only true a-hole I ever encountered was Ace Frehley from Kiss. Total douchebag.

It’s sad to see how he’s slipped in recent years. I've been to several SEC Championships. I know the odds are slim we were ever at the same one since I'm a Georgia guy and you're a florida guy thus no way both our teams could ever be there the same year. I've seen Dawgs vs LSU twice and Dawgs vs Auburn once. How about you?

I’ve never actually been to a title game, I never go to football games because that means you have to miss other big games, I was just in the area on the Friday before the game and went over to where the fan festivities were and walked around, the Gameday crew was set up nearby and Corso was there and was talking with some fans, I went up and said hello, he was really nice to everyone. I caught a glimpse of Herbstreit on the set as well, getting ready to do an interview. It was the year of one of the Florida/Alabama games, 2008 or 2009.
