Yeah my brother did that before. He removed the HD and replaced it. I know the files are there--it was working--but I cant connect it to the PC now--it shows up-but the drive is empty for movies. I assume it's just something loose but I cant see what. I will give it to my brother to check.
The screw did come out finally. But I didn't see what I could do inside. There was nothing loose from examining it. It's too much for me-my brother is the electronics expert.
Thanks for the help though. I can use the laptop for now anyway. I assume the file problem was because it was being accessed through a portable unit. I will place them on the laptop instead.

Prime etc.My guess is that ethernet port is so you can stream your video files on your computer through your network to the box and onto the TV (so in other words the box can directly access files on your computer/laptop's hard drive and stream them over your network to the TV). but I would imagine you would have to setup file shares etc. but since your just going to let your bother mess with it, ill just leave it there for now. like you said, you can stick to your laptop using HDMI port to the TV for now with stuff like Pot Player x64 etc as I been using that type of basic setup since late May 2016 when I finally upgraded from a old style TV to the more current TV's. p.s. even with my BluRay player I was mentioning... when it works, it's solid. but like I was saying there was one x264 file I had that simply refused to play. so while I suspect most people would probably prefer something like that, since you can use a remote for basic rewind/fast-foward/play/pause etc, I think a computer is more reliable in terms of what it will play except you generally have to use keyboard which is a bit of a trade off vs a more convenient remote control. but I don't mind given my general setup as I can sit the keyboard on a table next to a chair I sit in when watching a movie as I got a 20' HDMI cable connected to PC/TV.

Ah I see so blu-ray players may not allow some files. Fuck. Well I want something easier to use than the Roku-hopefully the android kodi is better. I hate that Roku. I want to be able to use something without needing internet connected to it.

The media box still works! I used a plugged in portable HD drive and finally it connected.

Prime etc.Well, given what I tested it was only one movie of a fair amount that did not work (but in all honesty, I am surprised they even allow that feature on Bluray players straight up). my guess is there are not many x264 (.mkv) video files it won't play as, without checking everything I have, I am willing to bet it plays nearly all of them. p.s. plus, there are firmware updates for the Samsung bluray player we got as I am running a recent version, but not the newest (I might update to the newest eventually just to see if it cures the x264 file I was having a issue with). NOTE: if you don't know what 'firmware' is, it's basically the general interface you see when navigating the menus on the bluray player as it's basically the software that makes the device function as without that, it's like the device would be brain-dead. Yeah, it must auto-detect NTFS drives since a typical hard drive will be using that format. p.s. on a side note... are you saying the HDMI port on your device is fine?

Prime etc. p.s. on a side note... are you saying the HDMI port on your device is fine? The USB.
The internal storage I cannot access but I was able to access files I put on a portable unit so its good enough. There is a port in back and front-in the past I tried the back and nothing happened but the front one worked.
