So the boyfriend said this to me, and I'm very what WTF about it. I wear a U.S. size 6-8. When I pointed that out he says women's sizes mean nothing to him and that I am big for my height. He also says I'm over sensitive and shouldn't have my feelings hurt by this because he likes it. He knows I have body image issues. I don't expect him to lie to me, but I also think this is one of things you keep to yourself, unless someone outright asks you your opinion on it, which I never have.
Am I being over sensitive?
ETA: I request no one quote that Fat idiot because I have it on ignore and am not interested in seeing its posts, especially on this topic. Please just tag it to respond instead, thank you.

I voted no based on what you wrote and the perceived intentions of your boyfriend. He loves your size. How is that an insult? That said it was probably an awkwardly worded way of telling you something he loves about you, but I don't think he meant it as an insult.

Well I wouldn’t take that as an insult. I feel like he’s complimenting on your size.

Fetishism is bad because the person doesn't see the person as a person but for more of the trait that they fetishize.

Harmless elfI don’t see how the guy she’s talking about has a fetish for fatness.

No, I think he meant it innocuously.

Harmless elfMaybe not in a fetishist way. He’s probably just saying it to make her feel content.

Going by how you've described the interaction, I certainly don't think it was intended as an insult. Of course, this doesn't mean it can't be taken as one. However, it seems to me the two of you simply have different concepts or ideas when it comes to a person's physical build. To me personally, I don't think that's a big deal or an insurmountable problem. It's all a matter of personal perspective.

As a guy who prefers thick women, I can tell you with 100% confidence that it's not an insult. Thicc or fat? There is a difference.

Besides, if you're aware of your sensitivity to certain topics, you can take measures to counteract any negative outcomes. So I think you're in a pretty good position to deal with the matter.
