I know you are a huge fan of "Grease". I like it a lot, not as much as you, but I do think it is a really wonderful movie and I am not generally a big fan of musicals, but this one was a big pick me up. It has a lot of cute, fun scenes, though I never thought of it as a comedy. But that is cool. Who is your favorite character from the movie, Toasted Cheese? When I was a kid I really liked Frenchy! lol

There are so many Mr. Dirty. I personally would rate Elvira: Mistress Of The Dark over RSG's though.
I adore Elvira and I was spellbound when my friend first introduced me to "Mistress of the Dark" for the very first time about five years ago, it was so cool to finally find a new source for some real quality humor because that just does not happen all that often, and that is never to be underestimated. I would watch Elvira every week gladly, but Pat Ast grabbed me heart and soul the very first time to bat. The rest of RFG is pretty good, not bad really, but I watch it really for Pat. I can't really recall, but I think I came to Elvira in the late 90's early 00's. At any rate, I have always loved it and it became an instant perennial favorite of mine.

When I was a kid I really liked Frenchy! lol I hit on the goto movie aspect of your topic when I posted quickly, and the film is fun as you have mentioned and very amusing in parts, but if I was to just place an outright straight forward comedy themed or spoof film, I find this difficult because I like so many. The 80's were full of them, but I guess if I was to single out just one comedy, that I think the world is a better place for it having been made, I would have to go with UP IN SMOKE - 78' I think.
This film just gives me such a lovely warm rush of nostalgia and is even has its own unique charm that is like none other. I think it is a one of a kind. It is silly, stupid and even juvenile in its simplicity, but at the heart of the film, is an endearing and beautiful interactive friendship between our two stoned and hilarious leads. They just are and were meant to be life-long buddies.
* I enjoy pretty much all the characters in GREASE, because they are all so well defined and larger than life, with their own little quirks and idiosyncrasies.

The 40 Year Old Virgin. Carell is hilarious in that but for me its really the supporting cast that kills me every time. "When your child is born is he already on parole?" "Go fuck a goat!"

Any Marx Brothers will do the trick but I really prefer their earlier chaotic Paramount features:
The Cocoanuts (1929) Animal Crackers (1930) Monkey Business (1931) Horse Feathers (1932) Duck Soup (1933)

Agreed with so many already mentioned. "Ghostbusters" and "Stripes" are just a few that get a laugh from me every time.
"Billy Madison" - the clown's break in the musical number is my ringtone. "Tommy Boy" - hands down, one of the most consistently funny comedies I've ever seen "The Voices" (2004) - best dark comedy I've seen since "Death to Smoochy" and has the best ending credits I've ever seen "Porky's" - even the cast couldn't get through some of this movie without cracking up. The 'tallywacker' scene is still impossible for me to get through without dying.
and not quite a comedy,
"Slither" - the James Gunn creature feature. From the first viewing it came off to me like "Arrested Development" meets "The Blob", which was uniquely delightful.

Big Trouble In Little China SPY (mainly for Statham) Carry On films Anchorman Dodgeball Love & Death Trading Places 30 Year Old Virgin Role Models The Jerk Team America - the first 20 minutes or so of South Park is unsurpassable for laughs, but Team America is more consistent throughout

Since I don't own any of the Monty Python movies, Peter Greenaway's 'The Falls'. The movie is lengthy and complex, individual vignettes, and though I have watched it quite a few times I always see something new. It's about the effects on Britain of the V.U.E., the 'Violent Unknown Event' which had an effect on the animal population, particularly birds, and humans as well causing odd behavior in humans and odd speech. Many of the sight gags reminded me of Monty Python. The film is also good to look at, lots of good photography of Britain.
