... that isn't 'sin'? Are all 'shameful' things sin? Are all things 'abomination' sin? Are all things god merely disapproves of sin? Yes. [/thread]

What knowledge exactly did she not have? God told her not to eat of the tree, she therefore knew it was wrong, this is why the snake was forced to tempt her. As predicted you have gone down the God knew so he planned it route, but you should really read what I have written to cool regarding that, there is a reason in the story that the serpent tempted eve. So no. it was not god that tempted Eve, and she had all the knowledge she needed. Sweetpea! IF you are the first woman in the word, how could you possibly have ALL knowledge that you need to know about the duplicity of men, either Satan or God or even the fucking snake and how the system is designed to screw you over? Stop being condescending and try to follow the logic that was plainly laid out for you. Eve was told by the ALMIGHTY that she should not eat of the tree because it contained the knowledge of good and evil. There is no other knowledge she needs for this decision.
Your special feminist buthurt has no value here, at the time men were pure and had no knowledge of evil, Eve was given clear instructions and given the knowledge as to why she should follow them.s

You are not 'getting' it are you? WHY was Eve chosen to fail? I guess it was the same reason that she was allegedly only 'Adams rib'? Since I don't believe any of it, I am having to post at arm's length on the facts presented. God was allegedly a man. Adam was a man, Satan was a man.(snake) and Eve was set up as the oly female to be responsible for all future human 'sin'. Sound fair to you? The obvious answer is that the Bible was written by men two thousand years ago and this was their mindset. You are being both a male and Christian apologist here.

Everything is God's fault. Any statement that leads to that main point is up for grabs. Well God IS the source of everything so at the end of the day it was all caused by God, if God is also Omniscient and out of time then he knew it was going to go that way. It's hard to relieve the creator of blame if you hold it to be omniscient.
I am simply pointing out that the narrative is that it was not God in the garden, and (although it is actually not mentioned) generally it is thought to be Satan that tempts Eve, there must be a reason that it was written that way, and it also means that Eve was not the one at fault.
whether you know it or not, you already understand the premise they are pedaling. You’re just being more literal about the matter.

I am answering the question from the point of view of the story, since you dont believe any of it my answers are not to your liking. Oh well no harm to me. Finally you have revealed the question you are actually asking, it has nothing to do wiht knowledge or temptation, but only gender, you should have probably led with that rather than try to walk me down the garden path to your feminist rant. By the way God (and therefore Satan) are not male, maybe you should get some subject knowledge before you comment?

Seems like Eve was given plenty of knowledge about the tree, not sure why she needs to know about what temptation is, you don't need to know it to avoid it OH MY GOD.
really, just a little bit or research on your part will save you from looking like an idiot.

Why should Eve do what God wants or not do what he forbids? IF God made the rules he should have set them out clearly, with consequences (despite your over achieving in cutting and pasting biblical verse) ? Even then it seems an uneven situation upon allegedly the whole of history rested upon morally. I always thought that Adam should have been the 'fall guy'! BTW if God is NOT male there is plenty of evidence in the Bible to presume that he is...like fathering a child?

Holy crap? Did she die? Did God do what he said? I thought (silly me) that she went on to start the human race 'according to the Bible', however as an inferior citizen for having caused 'the fall from grace' whatever the fuck that even was in the first place!

You're good at that, seeming unaware of just about everything. But don't drag me into being a defender of the Bible as if it's all I do. I defend everybody. I have no special revelation from God, so I can't help you know for certain what the Bible means, but I can help with English meaning and resolve seeming contradictions.

In the end, there is only one unforgivable sin: disbelief.
The God of the old testament was an evil, vindictive bastard that killed millions of people, including innocent children. Today, you can break commandments, rape, pillage, and fart in an elevator with impunity if you follow one simple rule: Put your faith in Jesus before you die (and don't forget to tithe). Jesus is a get-out-of-jail-free card.

What things does God find shameful, abominable, or disapproving that isn't already tied to a sin? It's not like there's that may of them. It is hard to think of any women in The Bible who are not either stereotypical mothers, virgins, martyrs, harlots or servants.

Have you even bothered to read this stuff before you came here bleating about how unfair it all is?

Have you even bothered to read this stuff before you came here bleating about how unfair it all is? OK, "lest YE die". That's a warning of consequences to her (and Adam). But it wasn't a warning that the consequence would also spread into the world, to be meted out to all of her unborn descendants. If there's a charge of unfairness anywhere, it lies in punishing the children for the crime of the parents.

Thats pretty diverse lol. are the men not stereotypical too by those wide parameters? Maybe. In which case we can agree that the Bible is full, at least in some regards, of stereotypes - which rather mitigates against the broader historicity of some characters lol. But it is not surprising just how restricted women are when represented in scripture - it likely just reflects the way females were restricted in real life among a primitive patriarchal society (and even today many fundamentalists still have a issue with feminism). One reason perhaps why maleness was most comfortably the association and attributation when talking of the supernatural, even if perhaps God was not thought as literally all-male.
