1977 was all about Millie and Pinky.
"My favorite colors are purple and yellow. I like flowers. I love irises. You know that phrase "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach"? ... well, it's true a lot of times. We're having bbq tuna melts tonight... First you dump in a can of tuna, then you dice up, not chop up, some onions... then you taste to see if it's allright... (tastes) ... it's allright... I made Penthouse Chicken last night. You use a can of tomato sauce... It takes an hour to make, but, believe me, it's worth it..."

Millie and Pinky flew under the radar at the time, but we now know better Mr. Dirty and pigs in a blanket have never tasted better. Not surprising, since it was such a fabulous year for cinema.

3 WOMEN I have never seen "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (which I know I need to fix that) or "Pete's Dragon". I only just saw "Star Wars" for the first time maybe 7 or 8 years ago. I thought it was a cute science-fiction/fantasy film. But I liked all the movies on your list, Mr. Toasty. "The Spy Who Loved Me" is, for me, the most enjoyable James Bond film of them all.

People call them 'love apples' but Millie doesn't love them! Yes, it was tomato soup, not sauce!

Yes. Until Pinky almost died and then Millie got over her own hurts and stepped up to the plate and finally felt something real. I just re-watched this gem a couple days ago, and I realized that for the first time, after cornering the market on yellow, Millie finally dresses herself in an outfit that is not all yellow. A sign of maturity. And then, of course, the rather morose ending, that nonetheless shows that something real and deep has taken place within the psyche of each of the women. I also just noticed how Willie, who had uttered no words in the first 115 minutes of the movie, now is quite chatty and maybe even feels a little bit of affection from her two new companions, maybe for the first time in a very long time. Topsy turvy. God, I love this movie.
