Obviously many people never exercise. Just go to any public place where there are lots of people and you can see many people --- male and female --- that don't exercise.
Nobody has to be a gym rat obsessed with the best physical condition and an amazing body. But there is something in between too much and nothing.
Many medical problems and just unattractiveness are attributed to no exercise. And people can improve their health, condition and appearance through moderate exercise.
I know lots of people who are successful educationally, occupationally and/or financially who just don't exercise. And within 10 years if not immediately, it is obvious.
Apparently many people just don't like it. But do they like being unattractive, fat, and/or unhealthy?
(I am not talking about people with medical problems that don't allow them to exercise.)
What do you think?

I don't get any real exercise for many years now and I am no where near fat. in fact, I am smaller/thinner than most guys, especially those around my age bracket as I am pushing 40 and I think I look largely similar to what I did many years ago. hell, I am not much bigger now than when I was at my peak energy to burn days as back in those days when I had about a 36" vertical jump, which was 16 years old, I was 5'7" @ 125-130lbs. now I am pushing 40 and I am 5'7" @ about 140-145lbs (on our scales I pretty much float in the 138-140lbs range for a while now but it might be a little low so I just claim 140-145lbs as that's got to be very close). although a while ago I was in the 150lbs-ish range for some years etc but have since lost some weight.
so while I am not visually much different from a while ago I can tell my legs (especially upper legs) have taken a decent hit as it does not take much before they are shot if I start doing a bit more heavy lifting (like they get that weak/shaky/wobbly feeling). but if the weight is kept down I am okay. I am still fairly quick though considering I don't get any real exercise for many years now as, at least as of roughly 3-4 years ago(as I have not tried lately), I estimate my top running speed to be about 14-15mph (plus, at that time I am pretty sure I weighed more than I do currently) as I know it had to be more than 13mph given the thing I was running against (a golf cart) should be right around 13.3mph given it does 1 mile in 4min30sec(maybe a little less), and it does it consistently(I tested a couple of different directions), which comes out to about 13.3mph and I can run faster than the golf cart in a quick sprint. but back in my prime, while I can't say for sure, I would guess somewhere around 18-20mph as I can tell I was noticeably faster back in those days (like when you ran you just felt more golden where as now I feel a bit sluggish when I run) and I had to be faster than most (at the very least) back in those days. because if I can do 14-15mph today(which is likely pretty close), and I am clearly more out of shape and weigh more today than back then, it's not a stretch for me to claim I did at least 18mph+ back in my prime, although I would guess about 18-20mph. because I could tell back in school I could comfortably top the easy majority and the ones I was aware of who could give me a run for my money (or beat me) tended to be a fair amount taller etc.
but anyways, to state the obvious... some exercise on a fairly regular basis is good for people as I don't think anyone would say otherwise as I am sure it's good for your heart etc. but people being people, they tend to avoid it. I think that's especially true when they don't have much free time because of a job etc it makes them that much more likely to avoid exercising and as we age we just don't have the energy we once did which makes it that much easier to slack off.

movielikerYeah, I used to be pretty high strung back in my teens (and maybe a bit into my 20's). but I would say I have been minimally active for probably a easy 10+ years and probably more towards 15+ years. also, I first touched the 10' basketball rim in the high school gym on my 16th b-day in 1995 which the reach at the tip if my finger is 7' which means my vertical jump at the time had to be about 36" which is above average I am sure. I never really trained or anything, it was just natural energy to burn from being active back in the day as a kid into my teens etc. I imagine genetics probably play a role to. but come to think of it... I would imagine with modern technology in say the last 15-20 years or so that makes young people even less likely to exercise/be active as they are addicted to technology. because when I was a kid and a good portion of my teens the internet was pretty much not around, or at least not mainstream yet (I would say the internet (and probably even basic cell phones for that matter) became more mainstream around 1998-2000 at which point I was not far from 20), as I would say I was pretty much 20, or close to it, before the internet and general modern technology (like internet/basic cell phones etc) really started to take off where the common person started having them etc. so call it about 20 years ago. Yeah, I see what you mean. but I think for those of us who are not more naturally high energy (or at least semi-thin and the like) are that much more likely to avoid exercise as I can imagine those people who are already overweight, especially at a young age, it's just going to be THAT much harder for them to start exercising as while it's natural to lose energy as we age, I think if someone is overweight, especially well overweight, it will zap ones energy that much more. I guess they should have done something before they got really large as at that point it's probably too late to do much. but then again I suspect many who are overweight tend to overeat as even looking at myself years ago, for example, I used to eat a footlong sub at Subway all in one shot which is simply too many calories to eat at once (back in those days I was about 150lbs, maybe 155lbs or so), which would be roughly half of ones total calorie intake in a day, and now, and for years now, I still order a footlong sub at Subway but I only eat half of it and then save the other half for later in the day. say, 4-5-6 hours later. because I think that plays inline with some who say you don't want to eat too much at once but spread it out in reasonably sized meals. so I can still pretty much eat what I want, just don't load up too much  I would say I typically eat 2-3 meals a day with some side snacks. I never really counted my calorie intake in a average day but I suspect I am around 2000, maybe 2500, which seems to be roughly normal from what I can make out. but I suspect those, especially those who ain't all that active, who eat 3000+ calories in a day etc, your almost guaranteed to start gaining weight unless you happen to be really young with energy to burn and a high metabolism etc or are really active in which case you will need more calories since your burning them off. but for the average non-active person I would imagine they should be somewhere around 2000-2500 calories a day. or another thing I have heard... eat smaller proportioned meals more often instead of eating huge meals less often as I heard it helps with weight. just some thoughts

well my first instinct would be yes everyone should but a lot of people have jobs that really are very physical so you don't need exercise cuz you're job is an exercise.

I think everyone, if at all capable should try to do at least some form of regular physical exercise, even if it's just a 20 minute walk everyday. I personally don't do much more than this (it's part of getting to and from work). I also swim a little semi-regularly.

Kind of a big fat DUH on that one. It's not even about losing weight, etc., if you don't exercise, you die, and there are many different ways, and all of them are excruciating.

They have no muscle tone. They just look like noodles. Many of them are flabby. And some already have cellulite.

Even in everyday activities, without one knowing it, one excercises.
To maintain a healthy lifestyle, it is suggested one takes 10000 steps a day.
For me, that's a little ambitious. I have my FitBit set to 8000 steps. It buzzes when I reach that goal. Although, it's very rare that I do.
I remember one day I was on vacation - I had to get my driver's license renewed. I had to go to St. Catharine's, Ontario for this.
After I got that done, on the way back, I stopped off at a mall in Hamilton. At about 12:30pm, my FitBit buzzed - signifying that I hit 8000 steps.
I'm surprised that it didn't display, "What's the hell's wrong with you?" 
That is, I reached my goal for steps so early in the day.
Most I have reached is 19000. I was going to try to hit 20000 by going to where I usually play softball. However, I was just so dog tired.

It should be recommend but not mandatory. I agree not mandatory as far as one being free to do whatever one wants. But mandatory if one wants to be healthy, well conditioned and physically attractive. Furthermore since everybody ends up paying in multiple ways for unhealthy people, it's very selfish and irresponsible for one to allow their health to decline by way of neglect to the point they can't work anymore and they need assistance paying for their medical bills.

Yes I think everyone should do some exercise. Here is the key thing to remember. Make sure you pick some type of exercise you enjoy. Going on 5 years now I started riding bikes and love it. Fresh air, great scenery and good exercise. When I first started I did only a few miles a day. Now I ride anywhere between 12 to 30. My longest one day bike ride was 44 miles.

But I think that many people who dont do it a) dont see themselves as unattractive or unhealthy b) dont care about it or the worst one c) see it, care about it but for various reasons are not able to change it. i think its a problem and would love it if morbidly obese people stopped saying they are healthy. i am fine with them saying they are beautiful and honestly believe some may find that to be true but no sane medical professional wiill say someone with a bmi over 40 or close to it is “healthy”. so i would really wish people whos weight is that high would stop saying it. i will never bully anyone and especially not for feeling attractive in whatever shape they do. but when i see people call it healthy I am close to saying something. i have once or twice had a conversation on this with a morbidly obese friend of mine who says she is healthy but t went nowhere... apparently her doctor told her she is healtht. so what can u say then. i wasnt there... anyway, kalokaghatia all the way.

Its just stupid, lazy and consequential. yeah i agree with you. i think they will regret it when they are older. especially with various back pains etc. The women around here spend lots of time on their faces and hair. From the neck up they look epic. Beautiful skin, classic makeup, great lips, beautiful eyes, great hair, and most of them dress well. But I can tell usually immediately, many of them don't exercise. I feel like telling them, "Spend a little less time in the makeup chair. And go to the gym sometimes. Just once a week would be a 100 percent improvement."
