Stretch those muscles and generate a little cardio; if you're capable, it pays dividends. If you're in pain call the doctor, but aches are commonplace. Damaged muscle tissue comes back stronger, or so I'm told.

yeah. for me its not even an option now to stop. i see in my parents how much they suffer and how they live with pain that could be mitigated not only had they excersised before but even now if they were willing to do it now but they are not. and i want to make sure i do what i can to live a painfree life for as long as i can. so for me it means no smoking no drinking no drugs minimal sugar and 5-10k steps a day and a gym or equivalent 2-3 times a week when i can. and even though i dont believe in god i do thank “god” for each day i live pain free. i know its not guaranteed and doesnt last forever. That seems a bit extreme. Did your parents have a genetic defect you are afraid will be passed on to you? what seems extreme? no no defect that i know of

But no alcohol? Unless one is susceptible to alcoholism, social drinking is not only okay, its healhy. Science and statistics show those who drink in moderation are healthier than those who don't drink at all. I have 1 or 2 glasses of wine every two weeks when I go see my parents out of town for dinner. And I will have a drink or two at a social event where there is alcohol. Once and a while I will have a glass of wine or two at home. Either with friends, or alone. But I am no risk for abuse.

I was simply never tempted to even try it so I dont see a reason why do it. It doesnt smell appealing so why drink something that doesnt smell nice?

If you don't like it, don't force yourself to imbibe. Otherwise that seems like an impressive workout schedule you have. What do you do? Walking, running, swimming, calisthenics, weight lifting, stretching . . . ?

Yes, but it must be done within reason and warming up and down are extremely important. Going from a sedentary lifestyle to trying to run a marathon is how you get a heart attack.

I walk to the cinema when I have time, which is about 4 km each way and I go about twice to three times a week. I walk to the gym, which is about 2 km away and there I spend an hour doing a mix of cardio and strength machines/ light weights. I used to do kickboxing frequently but not for the last year or so. Now I mix a regular gym with walking and swimming. Would like to add dancing regularly again. That was fun too.

It's much easier to exercise when you enjoy it. As opposed to just doing it out of obligation --- but still hate it.

I think the best thing you can do for your body is to abstain from alcohol completely.
I've heard studies about drinking one glass of wine in the evening with dinner is healthy for you, but on the other hand, how can something that's poisonous to your liver be safe? I never quite understood the reasoning.
Besides, I can't mix drinking with eating. I tried having a beer once with dinner and it made the meal taste disgusting. Plus, I was fuller than I normally would be.

I do enjoy the walking a lot, its terrific when you realize you can walk 15-20 K a day and still be ok. plus with NYC traffic you get places faster often on foot. i dont get any "high" from it like some people, but I do enjoy dancing, swimming and ball sports a lot. the weight resistance training is a bummer but i realize its important so i do it. 2. not in a great shape, decent as for muscle ratio and flexibility but my endurance is still shit and i still carry extra pounds, because while i do move around a lot i also struggle with portion control, so its still a journey. hopefully next year i will be able to say yes.

That is not in agreement with medical statistics. People who drink in moderation are generally more healthy than those who don't drink at all. Drinking in moderation will not damage your liver. Only drinking in excess. Beer is an acquired taste. I hate beer. I don't even like kissing girls/women/ladies who have been drinking beer. Wine aids digestion. Beer doesn't. That's why many people drink wine with meals.
