Buffy: Rewatching Season 2 Angel: Billy
I love the Billy episode from Angel! Such a great take on misogyny and male dominance, etc. and has just the right amount of horror, drama, and even a little bit of comedy. Alexis Denisof really outdoes himself here. Plus it really complements That Vision Thing as a part 2/follow up to it.

Have seen through season 3 and are now about 6-7 episodes into season 4 and I guess after the disappointing season 3 (I did not enjoy it as much as season 2 and 1) and since I am closing in on where I first started out as a bit of a fan of the show (probably through late season 4 or early season 5) I have enjoyed the first 5-6 episodes much more than most of the season before and I am actually glad Angel and the ridiculous overlong romantic plot with Buffy is at the moment put on ice. Also some rather big changes have taken place so I will use spoilers for this: such as Oz taking off and not sure when he comes back but I gotta be honest, I was never a big fan of him, but still a rather sad way of ending things between him and Willow. Spike is now a regular and I actually had almost forgotten all about Harmony, not my favorite and a big step down from Drusilla.

Am bouncing around watching various pvr'd episodes as the mood strikes me. Last one I saw was Entropy. Actually really enjoy this episode. The Spike/Anya conversation (confessions?) is great.

Well, now I am almost sure that I have either watched or am very close of where I first started when getting caught upon the show back in spring/summer of 2002, as the episode Pangs somehow felt very memorable, like I could pick out certain episodes from it but that's pretty much it. Anyway, ok Angel is back, not a fan and hopefully he won't be with us for that long. Also, there are some very obivous changes taking place, not only is Oz gone or Cordelia, but the tone of the show, now with Spike unable to bite people or even hit anyone, it is going for a far more lighthearted and silly style with lots of comedy/slapstick to it, however I do enjoy it very much, so again season 4 have been a huge step upwards (entertainment wise) for my part but I can understand that for those who loved season 3 it was maybe a bit of a letdown to se how things went down.

Episode 09: Something Blue - Season 4 Well, another episode with some kind of wish gone horribly wrong, this time it is not Xander's fault, but Willow's. She is still feeling down and blue after the break up with Oz and decides to put on a spell when being drunk, not a good idea as things quickly becomes a big disaster of "goofy" and "incredible" happenings: Such as Buffy and Spike getting ready to marry each other, Giles loses his sight and Xander (already a demon magnet) now really are about to live up to his "reputation". All in all, some funny stuff thrown in here and there, but just as with Zeppo from season 3, I thought it was sadly more annoying than good, in fact probably the "worst" episode of season 4 as of right now. Too much slapstick and one-liners but I guess it had to happen, after such a good run of episodes, sometimes you just have to "survive" a few stinkers then and now, and hopefully it will be a while until the next one arrives.

Episode 10: Hush - Season 4 Well, that went "well". I hoped it would be a while until the next stinker and ok, Hush is not as poor as Something Blue but it is very forgettable compared to mostly the rest of what I have seen so far from season four. The plot is ok, but too much slapstick and attempts on comedy ruins most of this episode which could have been far better, as the "boogeymen" who arrives are some rather scary looking creatures and with such neat baddies I was very disappointed at how it would end up unfolding. Well, oh yeah almost forgot, Tara makes her arrival here also.

Of course Hush is important because it was an hour of TV where there was no talking. And when they finally regained their voices, they couldn't find anything to say. The gentlemen are wonderfully creepy. I wish the whole thing were shot in black and white - it would have made so much more impact.

Certainly one of the show's finest hours. With practically no dialogue, the show still managed to be scary, witty, and dramatic. What seemed to be a gimmick episode actually played an important role in furthering storylines and characters.

And never mind that it explored communication: all the ways we do it. And how little importance we give it. When they couldn't speak it was vital to communicate. With the ability back (at the bookends of the show) there was nothing to say. I also love that they came up with a fairy tale that could be true.

Episode 17: Superstar - Season 04What a stinker! After finally having witnessed two of the best episodes (for some time) with This Year's Girl and Who Are You back to back, this is what we end up with? Talk about torture. I could not believe how the show would sink that low after handing out such a great comeback for Faith only to almost ruin it all with this piece of unfunny shit of a 42 minutes waste of absolutely time. The worst episode I have seen (and hopefully the last) of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. 0/10

Finnished watching season four, sadly for such a (mostly) enjoyable and fun filled season, the last two episode (specially the last) were a bit of a downer, not as awful as the one above, but still a disappointing climax. It is strange how little I actually remembered of this season, beside a few scenes here and there, but then again 14 years is a long time and maybe it was for the best, kind of like seeing it for the first time, but I am pretty sure that will change with season five as I think it is where Buffy suddenly is "gifted" with a little sister and Spike ends up falling in love with her and so on
As of now, I would quickly rank and rate the first four seasons (not by quality alone) but by how much I enjoyed them as pure entertainment:
01. Season 2 - 8,5/10 02. Season 1 - 7,5/10 03. Season 4 - 7/10 04. Season 3 - 6,5/10

Episode 02: Real Me - Season Five Well, onto season five now and I am not very impressed. Restless (the last one from season four) was very poor, and Buffy vs. Dracula even worse, but now with Real Me it is getting to a place where I begin to skip forward just to actually get through all the annoying stuff that went on. Maybe I missed out on something from the earlier seasons but when did Buffy have a little sister? I was expecting at least some kind of an explanation, but no. In Real Me it is like a poorly directed John Hughes teenage-angst drama rip-off where the newly arrived character of Dawn is suddenly one of the gang, (well, beside some terrible attempts on "introducing" us to characters we already know through Dawn's point of view). Everybody seems to act like she has been there all along, and I was wondering (almost expecting) another lousy dimension screw up or that some nasty wish/spell had gone wrong, but no, nothing. The worst episode I have seen, (or at least of now) tied closely with Superstar. Things hopefully will get better, but this have been a very annoying beginning of a new season and so I guess I should not have my hopes up and just see what comes next, that and be prepared to use the skip forward function a whole lot more in the weeks to come. 1/10

I think the best thing the episode explored is just how much non-verbal queues we use in communication. Even without the use of words, the characters were still able to get across emotion and intention.

Buffy vs. Dracula is so campy. It's part of the charm. That and Giles having vampire sex (or so it is implied and if it is true, then shame on him for his reaction later on in the series). Glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like restless.

A couple of good/better episodes now, about time considering such a poor start of the season. Glory makes her debut, we get some better explanation about Dawn the reason to her coming onboard, Giles and his magic shop is up and running, Spike has a "terrible" dream and begans stalking his "prey" wherever she goes, some sleazy hospital doctor is trying to get it on with Buffy, or so it seems, and Joyce is having some serious health problems, and the "highlight" through the first 5 episode (I think) of this season (for me) has to be The Replacement where Xander becomes twice the man he think he is, funny and enjoyable but not a great classic Buffy episode.

While Glory is not exactly becoming a "favorite" of mine, (the most annoying Buffy villain uptil now) still, I have enjoyed the episodes following the poor start of season five. I really liked the episode of Fool For Love, which I had almost forgotten about. It sure was fun to visit Spike and his former self as William The Bloody (awful that is) and also getting to follow his fights against former Slayers. His obsession with Buffy surely becomes stronger, as the season go, but the more comedy scenes, like where he steals a pair of her panties and is then caught sniffing her clothes in the next episode was less funny than it tried to be. However, the end scene of Fool For Love was very moving in a "weird" but sweet way.

Always love the editing in Fool for Love. Particularly on the subway.

While it has been years since I last saw Angel the TV series, (I backed out the very moment that annoying brat came onboard) I wonder how it could have worked if the had skipped Angel and went on with show/spin-off featuring Spike, Angel, Drusilla and their encounter with the former Slayers and so on, but I guess that would have meant that Spike would not have featured as heavy as he did during the later seasons.
Last night, Riley were written out (or at least for now) and Xander provided with some serious depth to him and not just being the regular "clown".
